The administration is a mission-focused and professional educational organization based on the school principal's responsibility for an equal education of good quality.
The Pre- and Compulsory School Board has overall responsibility for ensuring that all children registered in the municipality have access to pre-school and educational care, as well as schooling in the municipality's own or independent activities. The board is responsible for municipal preschools, including preschools in minority languages, preschool classes, compulsory schools, adapted compulsory schools, after-school clubs and educational care in the form of childminders and care during inconvenient working hours. The council's activities have around 3 700 employees and around 19 600 children and pupils. The total budget is SEK 2.3 billion.

Your tasks
As head of unit, you are responsible for the part of the educational placement unit that is responsible for employees who work with applications and decisions regarding school transport, applications and decisions regarding places in preschools, schools and after-school care centers, as well as intermunicipal compensation.
You lead, coordinate and develop the unit, which has about 11 employees. The assignment involves creating good conditions for your employees in their work to process, investigate and make legally secure decisions based on current legislation, but also to collaborate with other departments and units at school principal level. The work as head of unit includes contacts internally and externally as well as with guardians of children and pupils.
The assignment may also include other tasks prioritized by the employer, at school principal level.
You will be a member of the authorities department where you will report to the head of authority and work closely with a colleague responsible for administrative support at operational level.

About you
We are looking for you who have a university degree in social sciences or other education the employer considers equivalent.
It is important to have good knowledge of school legislation, publicity and confidentiality, and administrative law, and you should have experience of putting them into practice.
We want you to have experience as a manager and leader in a political or governmental organization. This includes staff and budgetary responsibilities. You recognize the importance of collaboration and teamwork and take an active role in ongoing development work. You also have a solution-focused approach. You demonstrate a good understanding of political processes and public decision-making and have high standards of legal certainty and quality.
To succeed in this role, you are a confident and stable leader who builds relationships and has the ability to build trust and interact effectively with different stakeholders, both internally and externally. You are structured and solution-oriented. You are flexible and can adapt quickly to different circumstances.
The work involves a lot of communication and you therefore need to be able to express yourself well both orally and in writing.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
