Are you the one? Housing support is a practical, educational and social intervention that aims to make it easier for the individual to manage their everyday life.
Housing support works to engage, encourage and motivate the individual to independence by carrying out activities with the support of housing counselors. The specific needs of the individual determine what the housing support intervention should look like and when it should be carried out. According to proven experience, housing support in one's own home provides, among other things, increased ability to manage one's home life independently, increased participation in activities in the community and increased level of functioning.
We are now looking for a safe housing support worker for the West area!
Your work tasks
As a housing counselor, you work daily with people based on individual planning. You provide support to people with neuropsychiatric disabilities, mental illnesses and addiction. The work includes providing support in everyday activities so that the person you meet can take care of their home and their person. You participate in and facilitate contact with various stakeholders, such as care providers, authorities and other social contacts. All with the aim that people can eventually develop the ability to do this more independently.
Housing support is carried out by working with the individual to plan, develop strategies and carry out various everyday activities so that the individual will eventually be able to carry out the activities themselves based on their own conditions.The support is provided in the person's home but also out in the community.
Collaboration within the team and with other units is a central part of the work. We use evidence and research-based methods such as an independent life (ESL), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Resources in Meeting Aggression (REISMA) and Clarifying Pedagogy (TP). The work also consists of documentation. Housing support is a mobile job. The support is carried out in people's homes throughout our catchment area, the western part of Umeå, and you will mostly walk or cycle between visits.
Co-planning between our operations may occur. Working hours are day and evening.
About you
We are looking for you who:
Is a Social Worker, trained assistant nurse or has an education that the employer considers equivalent
Have experience of housing support and/or psychiatry
Have experience of neuropsychiatric disabilities and autism
B driving license
It is an advantage if you have:
Experience of MI, ESL and/or RESIMA and clarifying pedagogy
You should be able to keep calm and have a good attitude towards people who are in poor mental health. You have good teamwork skills and are able to work alone in sometimes stressful situations. Great importance is attached to personal suitability.
In order to be able to communicate with users, relatives and colleagues, write and read
social documentation, you are required to have a good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
There are furry animals and smoking in the workplace, so you should not be allergic.
