The Disability Services Department in the Municipality of Umeå aims to be a resource that, through close collaboration, empowers and strengthens people’s ability to live independently. Within the Assessment Unit

for Disability Services, we work with individuals who, due to disabilities, require support and assistance. We receive applications, conduct assessments, and make decisions in accordance with the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Act Concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments (LSS). We follow up on these decisions to ensure that the service user’s needs are met.

We are now seeking a social worker specializing in LSS for our unit, as one of our colleagues is retiring!

Your Responsibilities

In this role as a social worker under the LSS, you will work with individuals who, due to a disability, need support and assistance to lead a fulfilling daily life. The role involves exercising public authority in accordance with applicable legislation, current legal provisions, and established goals, and you will be responsible for receiving applications, investigating, assessing, making decisions, and following up on interventions under the LSS.

We can offer you an exciting position where, together with your colleagues, you’ll help ensure the right support is provided at the right time for the residents of Umeå Municipality, on behalf of the Individual and Family Committee. The position involves exercising public authority under the LSS in the area of disabilities, across all age groups.

About You

In the role of social worker under the LSS, you will meet people facing difficult life situations; therefore, it is important that you are a confident and stable individual. You have strong collaborative skills and can express yourself well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing. Furthermore, we are looking for someone with an innovative mindset that can be put into practice and lead to results. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements

• Degree in Social Work
• Experience in exercising public authority
• Class B driver’s license
• Proficiency in spoken and written Swedish
