About the Position

As Marketing Manager for the Umeå place brand, you’ll play a central role in strengthening and developing Umeå’s appeal both nationally and internationally.

The city brand is a strategic tool for growth, with our priority target groups being new residents, students, visitors, and investors. You will be responsible for leading and coordinating marketing communications targeting these groups, both to increase awareness of Umeå and to contribute to concrete efforts related to business establishment, recruitment, and investment.

The role includes:

• leading the strategic work of developing and managing the Umeå place brand
• coordinating and leading the municipality-wide team for place marketing
• initiating, commissioning, and following up on communication and marketing initiatives
• collaborating with municipal departments, the business community, universities, and other external stakeholders
• represent Umeå and the municipality at meetings, conferences, networking events, and other external contexts
• contribute to developing working methods and strategies to strengthen Umeå’s position as a place to settle, study, and live.

We are looking for someone who has:

• a college degree in marketing, communications, or another field deemed equivalent by the employer
• several years of experience in strategic communications and marketing
• experience in brand development and positioning
• experience leading employees, teams, or larger collaborative processes
• experience commissioning and following up on communications and marketing services
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Swedish and English.

Experience working at an advertising or communications agency, in a marketing department, or in a similar setting, as well as experience working in the public sector, is a plus.
