Our administration employs over 1,000 staff members across five different divisions: Real Estate, Streets and Parks, Digital Transformation & IT, Food Services, and Cleaning and Facility Services. We plan, build, and maintain properties, roads, and outdoor environments. We provide transportation services and handle internal tasks to ensure the municipality’s operations run smoothly. For example, we ensure that the IT environment functions properly and is secure, that our facilities are kept clean, and that the municipality’s schools and residential facilities can serve healthy meals. Meal services in the Municipality of Umeå include the preparation and serving of lunches in preschools, elementary schools, high schools, restaurants, and at several senior care facilities. Our mission is to provide excellent service and nutritious, healthy meals for our diners and, together with school and care staff, to foster an understanding of the importance of food for good health and well-being. Dragonskolan is one of Sweden’s largest high schools. More than 2,200 high school students gather here every day in central facilities. The school offers Umeå’s widest range of programs and provides high-quality education in a wide variety of fields.

We are now looking for a food service assistant!

Your Responsibilities

As a food service assistant with us, you will work in the school cafeteria, performing all related duties. You’ll provide excellent service and help ensure our diners are satisfied. In accordance with the municipality’s goals, operational plan, meal concept, and policy documents, your responsibilities will include:

• Preparation and cleanup in the kitchen and cafeteria
• Some food preparation, such as cooking pasta, rice, potatoes, and side dishes for the daily meals
• Preparing a high-quality, seasonal salad bar
• Cost awareness and maintaining a balanced budget

About You

As a person, you are flexible, responsible, and have a strong ability to find solutions in your daily work. You thrive in a role where the pace is sometimes fast and where tasks can vary. Furthermore, you have strong collaborative skills and contribute to a positive work environment by treating both colleagues and students with professionalism and respect. You enjoy service-oriented work and have a genuine interest in creating a pleasant dining environment. You are meticulous in your work, take initiative, and are confident in taking responsibility for your tasks both independently and in collaboration with others. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements

• Culinary training, high school education in food service, or equivalent experience
• Experience working in commercial kitchens and providing meals in public settings
• Good command of the Swedish language, both spoken and written
• Valid criminal background check, in accordance with the Act on Suitability Checks

Heavy lifting is required at the workplace.
