The Competence Center for Multilingualism works to ensure that students have the opportunity to be taught in their mother tongue and receive tutoring in the language they know best. Today, 38 different languages are represented within the organization. We cooperate with both municipal and independent principals, from preschool to upper secondary school. Pupils who have at least one guardian with a mother tongue other than Swedish are given the opportunity to study their language as a separate school subject. Through mother tongue education, pupils strengthen their multilingualism, develop their identity and build pride in their language and background. We are now looking for a mother tongue teacher in Kiruni! Employment information The position is a special fixed-term employment, part-time about 30%. Planned start 2026-01-12 or as agreed, until 2026-06-17. Your work tasks The work as a mother tongue teacher is a mobile and varied position where the student base controls the planning. You will visit different schools around the municipality - both central and peripheral - to meet students in their school environment. The role may include the following tasks: Mother tongue teaching Tutoring in the mother tongue Distance learning and tutoring Language support in cooperation with the reception unit Hej Umeå Mother tongue teaching takes place in groups or individually in the municipality's schools, from preschool class to year 9, mainly in the afternoons outside the regular timetable. Pupils in F-3 receive local tuition at their home school, while pupils from year 4 can receive tuition at another school unit. Bus passes are available for pupils traveling between schools. Distance learning may be available for pupils in peripheral areas from year 2. Work is independent and includes planning, implementation, grading and evaluation according to the Swedish curriculum. Study guidance means that you support students in grades 1-9 and at Språkintroduktion in upper secondary school. Tutoring can take place before, during or after class. You will work closely with the mentor and subject teacher, who is responsible for planning, while providing support in the mother tongue to strengthen the student's knowledge development. This may include support to the Hej Umeå Mottagningsenhet in the reception of newly arrived students, for example through information sessions and mapping. Requirements Kirundi as mother tongue and documented knowledge of this Passed Swedish B/Swedish 2 Good digital skills Teacher training, Swedish or foreign - or other educational experience Valid extract from the criminal record, as a result of the law on suitability control Meritorious Knowledge of several languages Please attach a CV and a cover letter written in Swedish, if applicable, and a teaching certificate, if applicable.
