Are you the one?

Elderly care services in the Municipality of Umeå aim to be a resource that, through proximity and collaboration, empowers and strengthens people’s ability to live independently.

Nordstjärnan in Marieberg, about 6 km from downtown Umeå, is a newly built nursing and assisted living facility that, together with a preschool and a commercial kitchen, forms a unique collaborative complex in Umeå. The building has four floors and houses a nursing and care home with 60 apartments. On the ground floor, there is a plaza with a café and a stage where children and residents can participate in shared activities such as art openings, singing, or the St. Lucia procession. The preschool’s art studios can be used by both the children and the seniors. The surrounding area offers access to forests and nature. The courtyard features a greenhouse that everyone can enjoy. The building also has a winter garden where gardening is possible during the winter months.

We are now looking for care staff to work night shifts with us!

Your Responsibilities

As a care staff member with us, you are an important part of our residents’ daily lives. With a professional approach and a warm, caring attitude, you’ll assist each resident with whatever support they need. We take a person-centered approach and focus on the resident’s strengths—with an emphasis on preserving and strengthening their existing abilities.

Your responsibilities include, among other things:

  • Personal care and hygiene.
  • Documentation of care procedures and health status.
  • Medical tasks as delegated by the responsible nurse.

You will work closely with colleagues, nurses, and other professionals to ensure high-quality care. Transfer aids are always used when moving or lifting patients.

About You

We are looking for someone who interacts with people with empathy, attentiveness, and a genuine commitment. You thrive in a role where you take responsibility, collaborate with others, and are eager to contribute ideas that advance the organization and make a real difference. You have a patient approach and a positive demeanor in all situations, even when the pace is fast or conditions change rapidly. The role also involves contact with various government agencies, which means you work in a structured and meticulous manner and are confident in documentation and follow-up. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Smoking and pets may be present in the workplace, so you should not have allergies.

Requirements

  • Experience in the healthcare and social services field, preferably in elder care.
  • Very good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.
  • Experience with documentation

Preferred Qualifications

Language Requirements

Language is one of the most important tools for nursing staff. To provide safe and secure care, you must be able to communicate clearly with patients, family members, colleagues, and other professional groups, as well as understand, convey, and document information accurately.

You must be able to understand verbal and written instructions, document according to established procedures, and communicate professionally in both everyday and more complex situations.
