Are you the one?

Working in home care means working closely with people. You become a part of their daily lives and help foster a sense of security, independence, and quality of life. At the same time, you’ll have a varied job where no two days are alike.

Your municipal home care service is available throughout the Umeå municipality. Every day, we meet people with different needs, wishes, and life situations. Our mission is to provide safe, respectful, and compassionate care that enables older adults to live independently in their own homes. We are now looking for more staff members for our Backen home care service area.

Your Responsibilities

As a nursing assistant with us, you’ll work closely with people in their own homes. With a professional approach and a friendly demeanor, you’ll assist each individual with whatever support they need. We take a person-centered approach and focus on the individual’s strengths—with an emphasis on preserving and strengthening their existing abilities.

Your responsibilities will include, among other things:

  • Personal care and hygiene.
  • Preparing meals, cleaning, and providing social support
  • Documenting care procedures and health status.
  • Serving as a primary care contact with a focus on the individual’s participation.
  • Medical duties as delegated by the responsible nurse.

You will work closely with colleagues, nurses, the safety alarm system, and other professionals to ensure high-quality care. Transfer aids are always used when moving or lifting patients.

About You

We are looking for someone who approaches people with empathy, sensitivity, and a genuine commitment. You thrive in a role where you take responsibility, collaborate with others, and are eager to contribute ideas that help develop the organization and make a real difference. You have a patient approach and a positive demeanor in all situations, even when the pace is fast or conditions change rapidly. The role also involves contact with various government agencies, which means you work in a structured and meticulous manner and feel confident handling documentation and follow-up. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Smoking and pets may be present in the workplace, so you should not have allergies.

Requirements

  • Certified nursing assistant. You must have proof of a professionally recognized title.
  • Experience working in health care and social services.
  • Very good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.
  • Class B driver’s license.
  • Ability to ride a bicycle in both summer and winter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in home health care.
  • Experience with medication administration.

Language Requirements

Language is one of the most important tools for healthcare staff. To provide safe and secure care, you must be able to communicate clearly with the individual, family members, colleagues, and other professional groups, as well as understand, convey, and document information accurately.

You must be able to understand verbal and written instructions, document according to established procedures, and communicate professionally in both everyday and more complex situations.

As part of the recruitment process, a Swedish language test will be administered.
