Elderly care services in the Municipality of Umeå aim to be a resource that, through proximity and collaboration, empowers and strengthens people’s ability to live independently.

The Sjöjungfrun assisted living facility is located in Tomtebo at the southern tip of Lake Nydala, about 6 km from downtown Umeå. The facility has 47 apartments spread across three floors. Each floor has two wings, with 8 apartments per wing. We offer excellent opportunities for outdoor activities. In addition to our proximity to Lake Nydala, we have balconies, patios, and a shared courtyard that encourage residents to spend time outdoors.

Your Responsibilities

With a professional approach and a warm demeanor, you will assist our residents. The focus is on the residents’ right to participate in decision-making, and you will help ensure that care is provided to a high standard, in accordance with care decisions and implementation plans. You will assist with tasks such as nursing care, personal hygiene, meals, and other services. 

Your duties also include documenting care measures and health status, as well as performing medical tasks as delegated by the responsible nurse.

Work hours are scheduled for days, evenings, and every other weekend.

About You

We are looking for someone who is responsible and wants to contribute to a high-quality care environment by being professional and courteous toward residents, colleagues, other healthcare professionals, and, to some extent, family members. You are empathetic, humble, and willing to collaborate, and you are a good team player. You are constructive, proactive, and able to work independently. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements

• Certified nursing assistant
• Experience in elder care
• Experience working with people diagnosed with dementia
• Good spoken and written Swedish, so you can communicate with residents, family members, and colleagues, write and review care documentation, and receive tube feeding and medication delegation

Smoking and pets may be present in the workplace, so you should not have allergies. Heavy lifting is required; patient-handling aids must be used.
