Elderly care services in the Municipality of Umeå aim to be a resource that, through proximity and collaboration, empowers and strengthens people’s ability to live independently.

The Sjöjungfrun assisted living facility is located in Tomtebo at the southern tip of Lake Nydala, about 6 km from downtown Umeå. The facility has 48 apartments spread across three floors. Each floor has two wings, with 8 apartments per wing. The facility also has a beautiful garden where residents spend time outdoors in the summer as often as the weather permits.

Your Responsibilities

• You will assist our residents with personal care
• Perform medical tasks as delegated by the nurse in charge.
• Document actions, incidents, and health status.
• You will work in a person-centered manner, with a focus on the individual’s right to participate in decision-making. In this way, you ensure that care is provided to a high standard in accordance with the care decision and implementation plan.
• Heavy lifting or other physically demanding tasks may occur, and patient-handling equipment must be used.

About You

We are looking for someone with experience working in health care and social services. We prefer that you are a trained nursing assistant, healthcare aide, or have equivalent knowledge acquired through other means. Interactions with residents require strong interpersonal skills, where maturity, empathy, and good judgment are crucial for building a sense of security and trust. You demonstrate a strong commitment to both residents and the organization through a respectful and professional approach in all situations. You enjoy working independently and are patient and proactive in your approach. At the same time, you have a strong ability to collaborate and work together with colleagues, family members, and other professionals. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.

Applicants must have

• Experience working in nursing and assisted living facilities
• Experience with medication administration
• Experience with documentation
• Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.

Language Requirements

Language is one of the most important tools for nursing staff. To provide safe and secure care, you must be able to communicate clearly with residents, family members, colleagues, and other professional groups, as well as understand, convey, and document information accurately. 

You must be able to understand verbal and written instructions, document according to established procedures, and communicate professionally in both everyday and more complex situations.

As part of the recruitment process, a Swedish language test will be administered.
