Är du den rätta?

Elderly Care in the Municipality of Umeå aims to be a resource that, through closeness and collaboration, empowers and strengthens people’s ability to live independently. We are looking for someone interested in flexible and rewarding work where the individual is at the center. Our operations and work practices are characterized by respect for the individual’s privacy and self-determination. Our core values are based on the principles of Citizen Focus, Openness, Trust, and Continuous Improvement.

As a nurse with the City of Umeå, you’ll provide health and medical care, manage medications, deliver palliative care, handle documentation and assessments, and supervise other staff. You are responsible for ensuring that medical care is provided effectively for our patients and for coordinating contact with doctors and other professional groups in primary care and hospitals.

We are now looking for nurses who want to work part-time in home health care, nursing and assisted living facilities, evenings and nights, as well as at the Umeå North Short-Term Care Center!

Home Health Care (HSIH)

Home Health Care is responsible for home nursing care, rehabilitation, habilitation, and assistive devices in ordinary living settings for individuals over the age of 18. We work according to a person-centered approach where every patient encounter is unique and meaningful.

You will provide health and medical care at the primary care level. You will largely plan your own workday, prioritizing between different tasks and taking the initiative. You’ll work closely with patients, family members, colleagues, and other key stakeholders—both within the municipality and the region—to create the best possible conditions for safe, high-quality care in patients’ own homes.

With us, you’ll work independently—but never alone.

Umeå North Short-Term Care Center

The Umeå North Short-Term Care Center is part of the home health care organization, where nurses are responsible for medical care up to the primary care level. The short-term care facility offers care for a limited period to individuals who, for various reasons, cannot have their needs met at home. This may involve rehabilitation following a hospital stay, the need to relieve the burden on family members, greater care needs, or the time spent waiting for special housing. The goal is to strengthen the individual’s ability to return to their daily life at home, with support from home care services and home health care.

Nursing and Care Homes

At nursing and care homes within the Municipality of Umeå, you will work as a nurse responsible for providing health and medical care to our residents. Your duties include medical assessments, wound care, medication management, documentation, and supervising nursing staff. You ensure that medical care is of high quality and functions effectively in daily operations.

In this role, you’ll work closely with care staff, paramedical professionals, and the manager of the nursing home, as well as coordinate contact with doctors and other professionals in both primary care and inpatient care.

Evening and Night Shifts

Evening and night shifts suit many people—perhaps you, if you like having your mornings free and want to have time for life outside of work. With us, structure, security, and collaboration are key. Evening and night staff work both independently and closely together, helping out where needed and always having someone to bounce ideas off of. It’s not just the work that’s rewarding—it’s the people, too. Evening and night shift nurses provide care for nursing homes, home health care, and the Umeå Norra Short-Term Care Center.

If you’d like to learn more about our various services, please feel free to contact us!

About You

We’re looking for an experienced nurse. Perhaps you’re currently working part-time or have just retired? Experience working in home health care, nursing homes, and/or elder care is preferred.

You have a strong sense of initiative and are good at thinking outside the box. You’re able to work independently while recognizing the importance of collaboration with various professionals, where the individual also plays an active role. Naturally, you treat people with kindness and respect, and you’re attentive and open in your interactions with both the people receiving care and their loved ones. You are a good team player and want to contribute to effective communication and collaboration with other stakeholders. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.

In order to communicate with clients, family members, and colleagues, as well as to write and review care documentation, you must have a good command of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

A Class B driver’s license is required.

There may be pets and people who smoke in the workplace, so you should not have any allergies. Some tasks may involve heavy lifting, but assistive equipment is available.

Other Information

Hourly position with on-call duty as needed; start date to be agreed upon. Interviews, screening, and hiring take place on an ongoing basis. Work shifts may be scheduled during the day, evening, night, and on weekends.

Before an offer of employment is made, we ask that you provide an extract from the police criminal records registry. This is done as the final step in the recruitment process.

We look forward to receiving your application!
