Are you the one?

The Disability Services Department in the Municipality of Umeå aims to be a resource that, through close collaboration, empowers and strengthens people’s ability to live independently.

People under the age of 65 who have a disability and extensive needs for support and assistance can apply for personal assistance. A personal assistant helps a person with basic needs, such as eating, getting dressed, personal hygiene, and communication. The assistance is individually tailored and is intended to provide people with disabilities with greater opportunities to live an independent life.

Do you want to work in a field that truly makes a difference?

We’re looking for someone who is committed, caring, and wants to help ensure that another person has good living conditions and a safe, active daily life. If you enjoy helping others and making their days meaningful, then this might be the right job for you!

Your Responsibilities

You will work as a personal assistant to a woman in her 40s who uses a wheelchair and lives in downtown Umeå. Your role is to provide support in both daily life and leisure activities, and you’ll play a key part in creating a sense of security, structure, and quality of life.

The work is varied and may include:

  • Assistance with personal care
  • Help with everyday tasks such as cooking, baking, and household chores
  • Walks, activities, and outings
  • Social activities and other elements that create a meaningful daily life

The job involves physically demanding tasks; mobility aids will be used, and there is a pet (cat) in the home, so you should not have allergies.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is confident, attentive, and has a positive attitude. If you enjoy cooking, baking, or going for walks, that’s a big plus, as these activities are part of the client’s daily life. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We’d prefer that you have experience or training in healthcare and caregiving, but it’s not a requirement—the right personality and commitment are most important.

To communicate with residents and colleagues, write and review care documentation, and receive medication delegation, you must have a good command of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

We warmly welcome your application!

Additional Information

This is a temporary, part-time position (approx. 85%), starting October 5, 2026, through December 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension or permanent employment. Working hours are scheduled for day, evening, night, and weekend shifts.

Before an offer of employment is made, we ask that you provide an extract from the police criminal records. This is the final step in the recruitment process.
