The Disability Services Department in the Municipality of Umeå aims to be a resource that, through close collaboration, empowers and strengthens people’s ability to live independently.
People under the age of 65 who have a disability and extensive needs for support and assistance can apply for personal assistance. A personal assistant helps a person with basic needs, such as eating, getting dressed, personal hygiene, and communication. The assistance is individually tailored and is intended to provide people with disabilities with greater opportunities to live independently.
We are now looking for two personal assistants for a female client living in Ersboda. If you want to do work that truly makes a difference and enjoy helping others and making their days meaningful, then this could be the right job for you!
Your Responsibilities
You will support and assist a woman who lives with her husband with her daily activities and routines. The work takes place primarily in the home but also in other places where the client spends time in her daily life. You’ll help create structure and order by maintaining good routines.
The work includes, among other things, personal care, assisting with mobility, outdoor activities, and other household chores as needed. You will work according to established routines and actively participate in ongoing and planned development initiatives. The role also includes some administrative tasks, such as documentation.
- Heavy lifting may occur; transfer aids must be used.
About You
As a personal assistant, you need to be attentive and empathetic, with the ability to prioritize the client’s needs. You are responsible, reliable, and enjoy creating a sense of security and structure in daily life. Flexibility and patience are important, as are good teamwork skills and a respectful demeanor. The role often involves practical tasks, so attention to detail and a positive attitude toward helping out where needed are valuable qualities. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
In order to communicate with clients, family members, and colleagues, write and review care documentation, and receive medication delegation, you must have a good command of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.
