The Disability Services Department in the Municipality of Umeå aims to be a resource that, through close collaboration, empowers and strengthens people’s ability to live independently.
People under the age of 65 who have a disability and extensive needs for support and assistance can apply for personal assistance. A personal assistant helps a person with basic needs, such as eating, getting dressed, personal hygiene, and communication. The assistance is individually tailored and is intended to provide people with disabilities with greater opportunities to live an independent life.
If you want to work in a role that truly makes a difference and enjoy helping others and creating meaningful days, then this might be the right job for you!
Your Responsibilities
The client is a young girl living at Grisbacka who needs support with daily activities and personal care. This includes, among other things, assistance with personal hygiene, meals, mobility, and meaningful activities. You will also be responsible for providing continuous supervision based on the client’s need for safety and security.
The client also enjoys having a quiet moment, reading a book, swinging, and riding a bike.
About You
As a personal assistant, you need to be attentive and empathetic, with the ability to prioritize the client’s needs. We’re looking for someone who is creative, proactive, and capable of designing meaningful activities based on the client’s needs and interests. You’re able to handle stress, are flexible, and can think several steps ahead. Furthermore, you are responsible, able to work independently, and treat the client and their loved ones with respect and professionalism. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
We would prefer that you are a trained nursing assistant with a few years of experience in nursing care. However, these are not requirements; the most important factor is your personal qualities.
To communicate with clients, family members, and colleagues, as well as to write and review care documentation, you must have a good command of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.
Heavy lifting may be required; assistive devices should be used.
We warmly welcome your application!
Additional Information
This is a permanent, part-time position (approximately 50%), to begin as soon as possible by mutual agreement. Working hours are scheduled during the day, evenings, and weekends. The position also includes on-call duties.
Before an offer of employment is made, we ask that you provide an extract from the police criminal records database. This is the final step in the recruitment process.
