The Disability Services Department in the Municipality of Umeå aims to be a resource that, through close collaboration, empowers and strengthens people’s ability to live independently.
People under the age of 65 who have a disability and extensive needs for support and assistance can apply for personal assistance. A personal assistant helps a person with basic needs, such as eating, getting dressed, personal hygiene, and communication. The assistance is individually tailored and is intended to provide people with disabilities with greater opportunities to live an independent life.
If you want to work in a role that truly makes a difference and enjoy helping others and creating meaningful days, then this might be the right job for you!
Your Responsibilities
The client is a young girl living in Tomtebo who needs support with all daily activities, such as personal hygiene, feeding, mobility training, inhalation therapy, play, and tube feeding.
About You
As a personal assistant, you need to be attentive and empathetic, with the ability to prioritize the client’s needs. You are responsible, reliable, and enjoy creating a sense of security and structure in daily life. Flexibility and patience are important, as are good teamwork skills and a respectful demeanor. The role often involves practical tasks, so attention to detail and a positive attitude toward helping out where needed are valuable qualities. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
We prefer that applicants are trained childcare workers or have other healthcare or educational training with experience in caring for young children. However, these are not requirements; the most important factor is your personal qualities.
To be able to communicate with clients, family members, and colleagues, as well as to write and review care documentation, you must have a good command of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.
The job involves heavy lifting.
We warmly welcome your application!
Additional Information
This is a permanent, part-time position (approximately 50%), to begin as soon as possible by mutual agreement. Working hours are during the day and on weekends.
Before an offer of employment is made, we ask that you provide an extract from the police criminal records. This is the final step in the recruitment process.
