The Disability Services Department in the Municipality of Umeå aims to be a resource that, through close collaboration, empowers and strengthens people’s ability to live independent lives.
People under the age of 65 who have a disability and extensive needs for support and assistance can apply for personal assistance. A personal assistant helps a person with basic needs, such as eating, getting dressed, personal hygiene, and communication. The assistance is individually tailored and is intended to provide people with disabilities with greater opportunities to live independently.
If you want to do work that truly makes a difference and enjoy helping others and making their days meaningful, then this might be the right job for you!
We are currently seeking several personal assistants for a client in Tomtebo.
Your Responsibilities
The client is a young child who requires support with all aspects of personal care. Duties include, among other things, personal hygiene, dressing, transfers, tube feeding, and suctioning via tracheostomy (trach). The client requires two assistants at all times of the day and night, and night shifts are required.
You will be an important part of the child’s daily life and will also accompany the family on activities such as grocery shopping, hospital visits, and outings. The family is active and enjoys spending time outdoors in the woods and nature.
Work hours are scheduled for day, evening, night, and weekend shifts.
About You
As a personal assistant, you need to be attentive and empathetic, with the ability to prioritize the client’s needs. You are solution-oriented and can take the initiative; you have a positive attitude and see opportunities rather than obstacles. We also look for someone who enjoys coming up with activities, being outdoors, and staying active. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
We prefer that applicants are trained nursing assistants with experience in healthcare and social services, tracheostomy care, and working with infants. A Class B driver’s license is also a plus, but not required. What matters most to us are your personal qualities.
To communicate effectively with clients, their families, and colleagues, as well as to write and review care documentation, you must have a good command of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.
We warmly welcome your application!
Additional Information
Before an offer of employment is made, we ask that you provide an extract from the police criminal records. This is the final step in the recruitment process.
