The Education Administration is responsible for preschool, preschool class, elementary school, special education elementary school, and after-school care in the municipality. The operations are divided into three management teams: F-6 Southwest, F-6 Northeast, and grades 7–9. Each management team is led by a regional manager.

We are now seeking a principal for Special Education Elementary School, with responsibility for operations at Ersängsskolan and Östra Ersbodaskolan.

Your Responsibilities

The position covers the Special Education Elementary School for grades 1–6, located at Ersängsskolan and Östra Ersbodaskolan. In this role, you will be responsible for the educational development of the program, as well as for staff, the work environment, and finances. You will lead and develop the program in accordance with applicable policy documents and work to create the best possible conditions for students’ learning, development, and achievement of learning goals.

The role entails that you:

  • exercise overall managerial responsibility based on the school’s needs and mission,
  • lead, coordinate, and develop the educational work in accordance with national guidelines and the municipality’s goals,
  • make decisions regarding the school’s internal organization and be responsible for resource allocation based on the school’s circumstances and needs,
  • be responsible for systematic quality assurance efforts and ensure the quality of instruction to promote high levels of goal achievement,
  • leads and develops student health services with the aim of creating an accessible, safe, and health-promoting learning environment,
  • has personnel responsibility for employees within the organization,
  • is responsible for workforce planning, skills development, recruitment, and rehabilitation matters,
  • conducts performance and salary reviews and works to promote employee development and engagement,
  • is responsible for and leads the systematic workplace safety and health efforts within the organization.

You will be part of the leadership team for the Northeast Elementary School (Grades F–6) and report to the area manager. The role is carried out in close collaboration with other school leaders in the area to create the conditions for equitable education and sustainable organizational development.

You will also be part of a network for principals in special education elementary schools. The network serves as an important forum for sharing experiences, collegial learning, and the joint development of the organization. The role also includes support from a development manager with special responsibility for special education.

The role requires a strong ability to adapt to changing circumstances, to quickly build and maintain trusting relationships, and to exercise situational leadership based on the needs of the organization and its employees. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.

Requirements for the position:

  • A college degree in education (teaching or education degree).
  • Completion and successful completion of the state-approved principal training program (the Principal Program).
  • Experience leading educational programs in elementary schools and special education elementary schools.

Desirable:

  • Documented experience in successful change management.
