The preschool and compulsory school administration is responsible for preschool, preschool class, compulsory school, adapted compulsory school and after-school care in the municipality. Preschools and compulsory schools in grades F-6 are divided into two geographical areas, Southwest and Northeast. Grades 7-9 are a single area. Each area is led by an area manager.

We are now looking for a principal who wants to lead Böleängsskolan together with an assistant principal.

Böleängsskolan is a F-6 school in an established residential area next to a park area about 2 km from Umeå center, close to the river and forest. We have about 420 students in preschool class, years 1-6 and four after-school programs. The school is characterized by good continuity, driven and committed staff, good premises and close relationships between students and educators. Böleängsskolan is one of Umeå municipality's training schools, which means that during the academic year you receive student teachers on their practical training, VFU.

Your duties

As principal, you have ultimate responsibility for students and staff Böleängsskolan. You lead the school in close collaboration with an assistant principal where the assistant principal is responsible for the after-school programs. As principal, you are responsible for the preschool class and grades 1 to 6. The assignment as principal involves, among other things:

• leading and coordinating the educational work at the school
• deciding on the school's internal organization and resource allocation
• quality assurance of teaching
• student health work
• personnel responsibility
• financial responsibility
• personnel planning, recruitment and rehabilitation
• employee and salary interviews
• overall systematic work environment work
• contacts and cooperation with external actors.

You and your deputy principal work closely together. You are part of the leadership team for the area F-6 SouthWest and report to its area manager.

About you

We are looking for you who have a pedagogical university education, preferably with a focus on primary school. We want you to have solid experience of educational work in primary schools. You have experience of leading educational work in at least an assistant principal role, but even better as a principal.

We are looking for you who can inspire and engage staff, students and parents in striving for common goals. You are a good relationship builder who promotes good relations with staff, students and guardians. You also actively contribute to cooperation and collaboration within the management team to which you belong. It is important that you have a good ability to organize and plan the school's activities in a way that promotes learning and development. You also need to have clear and good communication and dare to make decisions and stand for these towards students, staff and guardians.
