Are you the one? Do you want to lead and drive the work on climate change in the construction industry in Umeå municipality? We are now looking for a project manager for E-NORM, Electrified Construction - the new normal!
The building and construction sector accounts for a significant part of the municipalities' climate impact.
To reach climate goals, better material choices and increased circularity are not enough - machine operation must be changed.
E-NORM is a pioneering collaborative project that will make electric work machines the first choice in northern cities. We combine urban test beds, joint procurement and business models, and smart energy and charging solutions to reduce emissions and noise, improve the working environment and create a more sustainable city.
The project is run by Umeå municipality in close collaboration with Östersund municipality, Umeå Energi and actors throughout the value chain - from clients to contractors, suppliers, academia and energy companies.
We are now looking for a project manager who will be the hub of a collaboration between municipalities, energy companies, contractors and academia for the next three years 2026-2029. The E-NORM project takes the next step towards a system shift where electrified work machines and circular working methods become the new normal in the construction sector.
About the role
As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating a complex, multi-year project with a large budget and many stakeholders. You will lead the work from strategic planning to practical implementation, ensuring that the project achieves its objectives of reduced emissions, improved working environment and sustainable business models. You will work closely with a project manager colleague who is leading another externally funded project in climate adaptation and stormwater.
You will:
Lead project management, planning and monitoring.
Facilitate collaboration between municipalities, industry actors and energy companies.
Drive the development of new processes, procurement models and technical solutions.
Ensure communication and knowledge dissemination nationally and internationally.
Work actively with gender equality and inclusion in all project activities.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a strong drive for sustainable development and experience in managing complex projects. You are structured, communicative and solution-oriented - seeing opportunities where others see obstacles. You also need to be able to understand and create understanding between people with different skills. We attach great importance to personal qualities and that you complement the others in the team.
You have the ability to:
Create structure and quality in project management.
Inspire and engage different actors in a common direction.
Develop new ways of working and drive behavioral change.
Communicate clearly and pedagogically, both internally and externally.
Write reports on project implementation with a focus on societal benefits and similar.
Training:
We are looking for you who have an academic degree in a relevant field, e.g. civil engineering, environmental and climate engineering, social sciences, project management or similar. Alternatively, you have acquired equivalent knowledge through long work experience.
Experience:
Experience in change management and process development.
Experience of working with public procurement and understanding of LOU.
Experience of collaboration between the public sector and business, preferably in construction, energy or climate change.
Merits: experience in construction projects, knowledge of energy systems and support services, knowledge of LCA/CO2 calculations and data-driven follow-up, Agenda 2030 and gender mainstreaming.
