The City of Umeå wants to strengthen its elder care services and is now seeking qualified nursing assistants for Prästsjögården and the Bruksbacken nursing and care home!

Most of the training and quality-improvement efforts in elder care should take place in a practical, on-the-job setting at the employee’s own workplace. The quality nursing assistant plays a key role in close collaboration with the unit manager and licensed staff to meet needs and contribute to practical, day-to-day learning for colleagues.

This role is part of a learning organization where the focus is on preventing risks, strengthening learning, and working systematically with quality issues in accordance with research and proven experience. Quality nursing assistants work to ensure high quality in elder care.

About the Role

As a quality nursing assistant, you will contribute to improving the quality of care for residents. Guided by the Social Services Act, you will promote a person-centered approach, communicate and ensure adherence to elderly care procedures, and support the professional development of your colleagues.

You will provide practical oversight of daily care work and work to ensure the quality of care delivery, as part of assisting the unit manager in systematic quality assurance efforts. You will be a member of the workplace’s local quality council.

You will share responsibility for onboarding, ensuring structure and support, and assessing training needs. You will mentor staff both practically and theoretically in care and support situations. You have a good understanding of the available support teams so that, when necessary, you can initiate enhanced interventions in consultation with your manager.

As a KUSK, you participate in and promote continuous learning through various meetings and training sessions, and lead workshops and micro-training sessions. You will work in alignment with the prioritized training initiatives and annual cycle for elder care. You are expected to accept delegated responsibilities in order to support and train your colleagues in all relevant tasks within nursing and assisted living facilities.

All quality nursing assistants are part of the Competence Center and provide training there. Quality nursing assistants receive regular professional development in their role through the Competence Center. With your expertise, a pedagogical approach, and a good understanding of how language use affects learning, you will work as a quality nursing assistant closely with both residents and staff.

About You

We’re looking for someone who interacts with people with empathy, attentiveness, and genuine commitment. You have a patient approach and a positive demeanor in all situations, even when the pace is fast or conditions change rapidly. The role also involves contact with various government agencies, which means you work in a structured and meticulous manner and feel confident in documentation and follow-up. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements

  • Certified nursing assistant
  • Experience in elder care and nursing
  • Experience in providing guidance
  • Good command of spoken and written Swedish, so you can communicate with clients, family members, and colleagues, write and review care documentation, and receive medication delegation

Heavy lifting is required; transfer aids must be used. Smoking and pets are present in the workplace, so you should not have allergies.

Employment Information

  • Permanent position starting as agreed, primarily daytime hours, Monday–Friday. Occasional weekend shifts. Evening shifts may be required to address needs for quality-enhancing initiatives in the evenings and on weekends.
