Rescue instructor, Umeå Region Fire Department Type of Employment Full-time
Job position Firefighter
Work model On location
Application due date 16 September 2025
Are you the one? Umeåregionens brandförsvar covers the municipalities of Umeå, Vindeln and Robertsfors and works with preventive fire protection measures, rescue and safety.
Our rescue missions vary and can include everything from fires and traffic accidents to providing first aid. We are currently in an exciting phase of development. We are building another full-time station in Umeå and plan to expand our workforce significantly. We are looking for a large number of new employees in the coming years and see this as an important step to further improve the quality of our work and service.
We are now looking for brave and committed rescue instructors in ammunition and mine handling (AMH) and CBRNE (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive substances). The positions are part of the capacity increase for Rescue Services during High Readiness (RUHB) that is now taking place due to the current external situation. Within the framework of the service, there will also be the opportunity to be part of the emergency response force.
Your tasks
As a rescue instructor you will:
Plan and conduct training in the relevant subject area for operational staff in the Umeå region.
Coordinate training courses after collaboration with the training resource.
Maintain own competence to be able to provide refresher training.
Collaborate with the training resource and other instructors to achieve the goal of RUHB.
As a firefighter with us, you will:
Limit damage to people, property and the environment during rescue operations.
Prevent accidents through training and information efforts both internally and externally.
Participate in and lead development work, mainly regarding methods and tactics in rescue operations.
Carry out operational and maintenance work to ensure our operational capability.
Participate in and lead exercises for emergency personnel to strengthen preparedness.
About you
We are looking for people who are passionate about making a difference and who have a strong commitment to working in an important societal function. It is important to us that you have a service-oriented approach and that you treat both colleagues and the public with respect and professionalism.
As our work often involves dealing with complex and demanding situations, we are looking for you with a broad skill set and a solution-oriented approach. You are a team player who enjoys working in a team, but you also have the ability to contribute independently to the development of the workplace. We believe you are a positive and helpful person who is confident and inspires trust.
Right now, we are looking for you to join us in training emergency services personnel for the demands of war and crisis. We believe that you have competence and background in CBRNE or a similar field, but above all we value that you have experience and aptitude to independently and in an educational way conduct training. When the planned training activities in CBRNE are completed, you as an instructor are expected to continue training in other areas.
Although not a requirement, experience as a full-time firefighter is welcomed, but your subject knowledge and teaching skills are equally valued.
To be relevant for the position, you should have good physical fitness and be able to swim. You need to have a driving license C.
