Are you the one?

We have a shared strategy for education in our municipality: to create a cohesive educational pathway that contributes to greater equity, improved academic outcomes, and attractive educational opportunities. Here, all children, youth, and adults should have the opportunity to reach their full potential and develop their knowledge and skills. We know that this depends on dedicated, knowledgeable, and professional staff who provide high-quality instruction. We make a difference every day and are proud of our mission. We have Sweden’s most important job—our mission is to instill hope for the future in young people.

Ersängsskolan is located in Östra Ersboda and is a multicultural K–9 school divided into several smaller schools. In total, there are just over 400 students at the school. The school also offers a specialized elementary program focused on specific subject areas, as well as resource classes for the entire municipality. We have one of Sweden’s best school libraries, and there is a soccer field and an adventure playground nearby. Our dedicated educators focus on a language-development-oriented approach with the goal of ensuring that all students meet the academic requirements. Ersängsskolan is one of Umeå Municipality’s training schools, which means that during the school year, we host student teachers as part of their practical training program (VFU).

We are now looking for a social educator for Ersängsskolan’s after-school program!

This is a full-time temporary position, starting on September 21, 2026, and ending on March 21, 2027.

Your Responsibilities

As a social educator with us, you’ll work with students during school hours and after-school hours at Ersängsskolan. Your responsibilities include:

  • Managing the after-school program.

  • Being present and building relationships with students and staff.

  • Provide social and emotional support to individual students and groups; support with tasks such as getting to school.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to make things easier for students and guardians.

About You

We are looking for someone with a degree in social pedagogy or equivalent training. You also have experience working with younger students in after-school programs. We consider it a plus if you have experience working with people whose native language is not Swedish.

To succeed in this role, you need to be a flexible and reliable person who enjoys working with both children and adults in a school setting. You build strong relationships with students and possess strong empathy. You collaborate and communicate easily with colleagues, parents, and other partners. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
