The exercise of authority is the way in which citizens receive means-tested interventions within Support and Care and we work on delegation from the Individual and Family Board. Our mission is to inform and meet citizens and, based on the application or notification, investigate, assess needs and decide on interventions for people in need of social services support and assistance. The assignment must be based on the council's goal of strengthening the individual's ability to live an independent life.
We have an overall responsibility for drawing up forecasts and identifying new needs for interventions by monitoring the development of needs and inflows in the municipality. This then forms the basis for planning and development, both in the short and long term. The legal framework that is mainly affected in our unit is the Social Services Act, but we work closely with colleagues who make decisions under LSS. We collaborate closely with other colleagues at other units and activities in order to meet the needs of users and achieve the goal of increased independence. From October, we also have a mission to staff social emergency together with colleagues from other units within the exercise of authority.
Do you want to make a difference for Umeå municipality's citizens?
Do you have experience of investigation and needs assessment according to the Social Services Act? Are you attracted by the idea of being involved in developing working methods with colleagues? Are you particularly passionate about supporting people with disabilities or mental illness?
