Are you the one?

Would you like to try an exciting and varied job?

We offer meaningful and varied work where you can make a difference for the people you meet. Of course, there are challenges, such as difficult assessments and the need to quickly reprioritize your day. But it also means many positive encounters with different people whom you’ll see grow, as well as the opportunity to contribute to the development of future elder care.

Elderly Care works toward two overarching goals: independence at home and safe, secure care and support, based on the strategies of collaboration, prevention, workforce development, and digitalization. A shared vision creates the energy and inspiration for new solutions that help us stay on course and maintain our focus on the work ahead.

The vision of Elderly Care is: Together for a better life—throughout life.

Within the unit Elderly Assessment, we are approximately 40 employees based centrally in Umeå who meet with individuals (aged 65 and older) who, due to aging and its consequences, need support and assistance. We receive applications, conduct assessments, and make decisions in accordance with the Social Services Act (SoL). We follow up on decisions to ensure that the client’s needs are met.

We are now seeking two temporary social workers!

Your Responsibilities

As a social worker, you are responsible for ensuring legally sound and equitable case management in accordance with applicable legislation. The role involves receiving and processing reports and applications, conducting investigations, making decisions, and following up on approved services. You will document your work on an ongoing basis and provide guidance to individuals based on their needs in accordance with the Social Services Act (SoL).

You will work according to the IBIC (Individual Needs in Focus) approach, where the individual’s abilities, resources, and needs are the focus. The work involves both independent responsibility and close collaboration with colleagues as well as with other professions and operations, both internally and externally.

In this role, you will collaborate at the individual, group, and organizational levels to ensure that each person receives the right support. You will work closely and continuously with the people you meet, as well as collaborate with family members, representatives, and other stakeholders within the operational area.

About You

In the role of social worker, you will often meet people in difficult life situations, so it is important that you are a confident and stable person. You are good at taking initiative and can work independently. The job requires flexibility and the ability to reprioritize at short notice, as the workload can be high at times.

You want to actively participate in developing the organization and contribute to a positive work environment. You are committed and a good team player. You can identify the needs of the individual and place them within a broader perspective. As we actively work to increase collaboration between our units, it is important that you, as a person, view collaboration as a natural part of your work. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements

  • Certified social worker
  • Experience in public administration where you have conducted investigations and made decisions based on the Social Services Act (SoL)
  • Class B driver’s license
  • Good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written

Other

Two temporary positions, full-time, starting September 1, 2026, through January 31, 2027.

Before an offer of employment is made, we ask that you provide an extract from the police criminal records. This is done as the final step in the recruitment process.
