Social worker for First Line, family centers Ersboda, Ålidhem and Backen Type of Employment Full-time
Job position Social secretary
Work model On location
Application due date 11 March 2026
Are you the one? First line - social worker/social secretary to the family centers Ersboda, Ålidhem and Backen
Första linjen is a team of 24 social workers and nine preschool educators who work at Umeå municipality's family centers.
Our mission is to offer early and accessible support to children, young people and their families. The business is growing and developing - that's why we are now looking for three social workers/social secretaries.
We are looking for people who want to make a real difference for children and families. We now have three exciting positions with slightly different specializations, which gives you the opportunity to work based on your skills and interests.
One of the positions has its main part within the Parent Support and focuses on preventive and supportive work. The other part of the post may include some authority work. The main location for the service, Parent Support, is at Ersboda Family Center.
The other two are located at Backen and Ålidhem and they both offer a varied and developing role where you combine different forms of parental support with the exercise of authority. Support via Föräldrasupporten may also be included.
Your work tasks
As a First Line employee, you work with support for children, young people and their families, individually and in groups. You will also investigate children's needs, make decisions under the Social Services Act and be responsible for planning, implementing and following up support measures.
Collaboration is a natural and important part of the job. You collaborate with internal and external actors around the child and family and represent the social services in collaboration forums, such as HLT (Health-Learning-Safety) and SSPF (School, Social Services, Police and Leisure). Together with other professionals, you work to create safe and sustainable solutions for children and young people.
In your work at Föräldrasupporten, you will meet parents and other relatives of children and young people and offer non-means-tested support both individually and through group activities for different target groups. The focus is on strengthening the relationship between children, parents and other important adults. The Parent Support Service does not keep any records and does not exercise any authority.
The work of the First Line is characterized by a clear relationship-building focus. By building trusting relationships with those we meet, you help to strengthen families' own resources and ensure that children's needs for care, security and development are met.
About you
We are looking for you who have good collaboration skills, take initiative and see the individual from a holistic perspective. You need to be able to work independently and have the ability to prioritize in an everyday life that is sometimes unpredictable. The work offers great variety and good opportunities to influence together with colleagues in the team.
The assignment on the first line requires a good ability to assess the right intervention at the right time. It is important that you have good knowledge of the activities of both social services and other actors, in order to best guide citizens seeking support. Great importance is attached to personal suitability.
