Are you the one?

The Individual and Family Care Services in the Municipality of Umeå aim to be a resource that, through close collaboration, empowers and strengthens people’s ability to live independent lives.

The Placement Group’s mission is to monitor the care of children and youth who are placed outside their own homes in accordance with the Social Services Act and the Care of Young Persons Act (LVU). This work includes foster care placements and placements in residential care facilities (HVB), which involves ongoing contact with children and youth as well as the significant adults in their lives. The Placement Group currently employs 19 social workers, a unit manager, and a team leader. We are actively working to create a workplace that provides all employees with the right conditions to do a good job.

Starting in 2022, we will be part of Yrkesresan, a national competency initiative for staff in the social services’ exercise of authority regarding children and youth. Within the regulatory functions of Umeå Municipality, we have also focused on coordination and collaboration, both within our operational area and with other partners. As a new employee at the Placement Group, you will be gradually introduced to the unit’s responsibilities. You’ll also receive internal and external case supervision to support you in your work and help you grow in your professional role.

We are now looking for 1–2 social workers to join our team!

Your Responsibilities

At the Placement Group, we work according to the “Child’s Needs First” (BBIC) approach, which is a unified system for child welfare services. Work at Placeringsgruppen involves traveling to visit and follow up on the child’s or youth’s situation, assessing their need for support and protection, collaborating with networks, etc. Much of the work involves motivating, building relationships, and instilling hope for change, as well as investigating, assessing, and making decisions based on the child’s best interests. The position requires strong verbal and written communication skills in Swedish.

Our goal is to provide high-quality social work based on knowledge, accessibility, continuity, participation, and a holistic approach.

About You

You possess the collaborative skills needed to interact with children and youth, their families, and partner organizations. It also comes naturally to you to recognize individuals’ needs and place them within a holistic perspective. You are able to act and manage situations in complex environments. The job requires that you have a strong sense of initiative and can work independently, while adhering to established procedures and current legislation. We also expect you to actively collaborate with internal and external partners. You are eager to help develop our operations and contribute to a positive work environment. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements

  • Degree in social work.
  • Experience in social work with children, youth, and families.
  • Class B driver’s license.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience working with the BBIC approach.
  • Experience exercising official authority within social services and/or work focused on the needs of children and youth.

Before an offer of employment is made, we ask that you provide an extract from the police criminal records database. This is done as the final step in the recruitment process.

We warmly welcome your application!
