The Disability Services Department in the Municipality of Umeå aims to be a resource that, through close collaboration, empowers and strengthens people’s ability to live independently. Here, you get to be part of something meaningful every day; it’s a job where you meet people who give back at least as much as you invest—often even more.
Godemansvägen is a group home under the LSS (Act Concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments) that focuses on individuals with intellectual
disabilities. Here, six residents live in their own apartments, with access to shared spaces such as a kitchen and living room for socializing and community.
We are now looking for a support educator to join our team. Is this you?
Your Responsibilities
Together with your colleagues, you will support people with disabilities. You will work to help each individual participate in a functional daily life and enjoy a fulfilling leisure time. You will work on continuous quality improvements regarding educational methods and communication, documentation, and the orientation of new colleagues in the program(s).
As a support educator, you will guide colleagues in educational methods that are proven and recommended by the National Board of Health and Welfare. Your approach is characterized by flexibility, continuity, and a sense of security. You will both carry out practical interventions and guide other staff toward educational solutions to challenges in client-centered work by applying various educational methods.
You will work under the direction of your supervisor, and your assignments may vary over time depending on the needs of the program(s). As a support educator, you will be part of a network of other support educators where we offer ongoing peer support and professional development.
We encounter physically demanding tasks and outwardly aggressive behavior in our work.
Scheduled work hours: day, evening, and on-call shifts. Joint planning takes place between our operations within Disability Care.
About You
We’re looking for someone who wants to make a difference for our clients and who has strong teaching skills. You should be highly committed and eager to help develop our services. You are solution-oriented, have a positive demeanor, and are skilled at communicating and collaborating with everyone you encounter in your daily work. Furthermore, you are open to change and use clear, accessible teaching methods. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.
In order to communicate with clients, colleagues, and other networks surrounding our clients, to write and review care documentation, and to be authorized to administer medication, you must have a good command of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.
