The Disability Services Department in the Municipality of Umeå aims to be a resource that, through close collaboration, empowers and strengthens people’s ability to live independently. Here, you’ll be part of something meaningful every day; it’s a job where you’ll meet people who give back at least as much as you invest—often even more.
At Lillebergsvägen, two new group homes under the LSS will open in February 2027. These facilities are designed for adults with intellectual disabilities. All residents live in their own apartments and share common areas such as the kitchen and living room. We are now looking for a support educator to join our team. Are you the person we’re looking for?
Your Responsibilities
Together with your colleagues, you will support individuals with disabilities. You will work to help each person participate in a functional daily life and enjoy a fulfilling leisure time. You will work on continuous quality improvements regarding educational methods and communication, documentation, and the onboarding of new colleagues into the program(s).
As a support educator, you will guide colleagues in educational methods that are proven and recommended by the National Board of Health and Welfare. Your approach is characterized by flexibility, continuity, and a sense of security. You will both carry out practical interventions and guide other staff toward educational solutions to challenges in client-centered work by applying various educational methods.
You will work under the direction of your supervisor, and your assignments may vary over time depending on the needs of the program(s). As a support educator, you will be part of a network of other support educators where we offer ongoing peer support and professional development.
Smoking, physically demanding tasks, disruptive behavior, and pets may be present in the workplace.
Scheduled work hours: day, evening, weekend, and on-call nights. Joint planning takes place between our programs within Disability Services.
About You
We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference for our clients and who has strong teaching skills. You should be highly committed and eager to help develop the program. You are solution-oriented, have a positive demeanor, and are skilled at communicating and collaborating with everyone you encounter in your daily work. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.
To communicate with clients, colleagues, and other networks supporting our clients, as well as to write and review care documentation and receive medication delegation, you must have a strong command of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.
