Elevhälsan in preschool and compulsory school works in teams consisting of a school nurse, school counselor, school psychologist, school special educator and principal. We work based on the intention of the Education Act. Student health should primarily work to promote health and prevention, at the individual, group and organizational level, to support the student towards the goals of education.

Do you want to make a difference for students in linguistic vulnerability? Then this may be the position for you! Elevhälsan, Kompetenscentrum språk och kommunikation is looking for a committed special educator or special teacher who wants to be involved in developing the language support work at Umeå municipality's schools.

Your tasks

You will be part of an interdisciplinary team together with other special education staff and speech therapists with the task of supporting schools in the work with linguistic accessibility. Through training and supervision of teachers and educational staff, you will contribute to promoting the health and learning of pupils in relation to teaching and policy documents. It is a matter of course to take into account the students' perspectives and opportunities for participation and influence in their education. Part of your assignment is to support schools in implementing and working with set goals for linguistic development and accessibility, and to follow up and evaluate these efforts.

Involvement with individual students may involve providing support in mapping linguistic needs and proposing interventions in both regular teaching and special support. This is done in close collaboration with the teachers and student health team concerned on behalf of the principal who leads and sets the framework for the efforts. Within your assignment, there are good opportunities for development and to be involved in designing special educational initiatives.

About you

We are looking for you who have a genuine commitment to students' development and learning. You are solution-focused, flexible in your work and confident in your professional role. Furthermore, you have good collaboration skills and are communicative, with the ability to build trusting relationships with both students, colleagues and guardians. You also have an excellent command of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. We attach great importance to personal applicability.

Requirements

  • Degree as a special educator or special teacher with specialization in language, reading and writing development
  • Legitimized teacher with competence in primary school
  • Experience in teaching in primary school
  • Experience in special educational work that includes supervision and student health work at the organizational level
  • Experience and knowledge of language disorder (DLD), NPF and literacy difficulties linked to teaching and learning

Meriterande

Competence and experience in the following areas related to linguistic accessibility and a language support perspective:

  • Multilingual development and Swedish as a second language
  • Digital learning resources in relation to teaching and learning
  • Planning and leading development work
  • Experience in organizing efforts related to the education of particularly gifted students
