
The Leisure Services Department of Umeå Municipality aims to contribute to a high quality of life by providing excellent opportunities for active leisure through sports, exercise, recreation, and public health. The department’s area of responsibility includes the management and operation of sports and recreation facilities, leisure, excursion, and recreation areas, facilities for recreational boats, as well as initiatives related to recreational fishing and active outdoor life. Through the municipality’s joint Association Office, the Leisure Administration is responsible for the overall planning, monitoring, and evaluation of the municipality’s support for community organizations, as well as for strengthening ties between the municipality’s various representatives and organized community groups.
The Operations Department is responsible for staffing our major sports facilities: Nolia Sports Center, Gammlia Sports Center, and Tegs Sports Center, as well as facilities in Holmsund and Hörnefors. Other sports and recreation facilities in the municipality are managed by our mobile operations team based in Västerslätt. This team is responsible for, among other things, the maintenance of ice rinks, school sports fields, neighborhood sports fields, artificial turf fields, the sports field, equipment rentals, outdoor swimming areas, boating, outdoor recreation, and the upkeep of Bräntberget.
We are now looking for two sports facility workers!
Your Responsibilities
The job involves the operation and maintenance of a wide range of facilities and environments that promote outdoor recreation and physical activity. This involves being responsible for jogging trails, ski trails, ice rinks, school sports fields, and local sports fields, as well as ensuring that the artificial turf fields and sports fields maintain high quality year-round. The role also includes equipment rental, maintenance of outdoor swimming areas, and services related to boating. In addition, the department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of Bräntberget and other sports-related tasks that may arise. Together, these responsibilities help create attractive, well-maintained, and accessible environments.
Working hours are during the day.
About You
We are looking for someone who has completed high school and has experience in customer service. The position requires a Class B driver’s license, as you will need to travel between different facilities and operate work vehicles as part of your duties. You must also have a good command of Swedish, both spoken and written, as the job involves daily communication with colleagues, organizations, schools, and visitors, as well as handling written documentation and safety procedures. It is advantageous if you have a BE driver’s license, an operator’s certificate for a wheel loader and/or snowmobile, and experience operating a snow groomer.
This position involves heavy lifting. Good physical health is essential for handling certain physically demanding tasks. As a person, you are flexible and able to take initiative; you can work independently as well as collaborate effectively with others. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
