Ersboda Special Education Elementary School is located in Östra Ersboda and at Ersängsskolan. Ersängsskolan is located in Östra Ersboda and is a multicultural K–9 school. In total, there are approximately 400 students at the school. It also offers a special education program with a focus on specific subject areas for grades 1–6, as well as resource classes for the entire municipality. We have one of Sweden’s best school libraries, and nearby there is a soccer field and an adventure playground.

Östra Ersboda School is a small, dynamic school with a preschool class through third grade, as well as a special education program for grades 1–6. The school is staffed by competent professionals and serves students from many different cultures. There are excellent opportunities for outdoor activities. A library, soccer field, and lighted running track are located right next to the school. The school is situated in the Östra Ersboda residential area, where many cultures and nationalities are represented.

We are now looking for two student assistants!

These are full-time temporary positions, starting August 3, 2026, through June 18, 2027.

Your Responsibilities

As a student assistant at the special needs elementary school, your main responsibility is to support students with special needs in their learning, development, and daily activities. You will work to create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment that enables every student to reach their full potential.

Main duties:

  • Support in the classroom: Assist students during lessons by providing additional explanations and help with assignments.
  • Accompany students on field trips, excursions, and other school-related activities to provide necessary support.
  • Educational support: Provide support to students with cognitive, motor, or communication difficulties. Encourage and help students participate in classroom activities and social interactions.
  • Practical support: Assist with personal needs, such as eating, dressing, mobility, or other daily activities, as needed. Provide support to help students follow routines and structure during the school day.
  • Support students during recess and other extracurricular activities to ensure safety and social interaction.
  • Social and emotional support: Work to promote students’ self-confidence and independence. Manage conflicts and situations where students need extra emotional support, and collaborate with other staff as needed. Support students in developing social skills, communication, and interaction with others.

This job description can, of course, be adapted depending on the student group, but it provides a basic overview of the most common tasks for a student assistant/resource within special education. 

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Completed high school education
  • At least 1 year of experience working with young people/children/students with intellectual disabilities. 
  • A valid criminal record check.
  • Good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

Experience working in a preschool is considered a plus.

You are a confident adult and a good role model. You also have the ability to connect with students. You see each individual and create a safe environment at school, collaborating with others to achieve set goals. As a person, you are flexible, clear, and organized. You enjoy working with children who need special support, as you play a vital role in their school day. You have strong collaboration skills, are responsive, and find it easy to communicate and work with students and other key professionals serving this student population. You have strong collaboration skills and treat children, their families, and other stakeholders with professionalism. You are dedicated and committed to sharing our values, working toward set goals, and striving for continuous improvement. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
