The Disability Services Department in the Municipality of Umeå aims to be a resource that, through proximity and collaboration, empowers and strengthens people’s ability to live independently.

Welcome to Hissjövägen in Haga, a supported living facility under the LSS for residents with intellectual disabilities. Eight residents live here who need support in their daily lives.

We are now looking for a colleague to join our team at Hissjövägen who wants to make a difference together with coworkers and other professionals! 

Your Responsibilities

As a support assistant, you will guide and support individuals with intellectual and mental disabilities in their daily lives. You will provide individual, social, and practical support to enable and nurture the individuals’ own abilities, thereby creating the conditions for independence.

You will work to help individuals participate in their daily lives and engage in meaningful leisure activities and/or employment. Common duties include supporting clients with approved services such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping, personal care/hygiene, medication, and social activities. You plan, follow up on, and help implement improvements together with colleagues.

The job also includes record-keeping, documentation in Treserva, and working in a goal-oriented manner with individual implementation plans to increase goal achievement.

Work hours include days, evenings, weekends, and on-call nights. Joint planning may take place between our facilities.

About You

You have a genuine interest in disability care, and your approach to work is characterized by flexibility, consistency, and reliability. We are looking for someone with a strong ability to create and maintain structure and who wants to help develop our operations. You are committed and eager to share our values, work toward set goals, and contribute to continuous improvement.

To communicate with clients, family members, and colleagues, write and review care documentation, and receive medication delegation, you must have a good command of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.

Heavy lifting is involved; patient-handling aids must be used.

Smoking and pets are present in the workplace, so you should not have allergies

Requirements:

  • Certified pediatric nurse, nursing assistant, social worker, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer
  • Several years of experience working with planning, evaluation, identifying deviations, and implementing interventions in disability care

Preferred:

  • Training or experience in the Positive Behavior Support method
