The Disability Servicesin the Municipality of Umeå aims, through proximity and collaboration, to be a resource that empowers and strengthens people’s ability to live independently. Within special housing, there are group homes and service apartments under the LSS for people with intellectual and/or mental disabilities.

Sjöråvägen 75 is an LSS group home specializing in social psychiatry. A group home is a residence with specialized services for adults. It is intended for people with disabilities who need support in their daily lives; we have six resident apartments. Here, you’ll become part of a team that collaborates with other group homes to ensure the highest quality of care and safety.

Your Responsibilities

With a professional and respectful approach, you’ll work closely with the residents to strengthen their independence in areas such as housing, employment/school, and leisure activities. The work is independent but carried out in close collaboration with colleagues and external partners. Situations involving threats or violence may occur in the workplace.

The role includes, among other things:

  • Support in the home and in social situations
  • Professional conduct and handling of various circumstances and challenging situations

Work hours are scheduled for days, evenings, and weekends, with occasional night shifts as part of the position.

About You

We are looking for someone with a genuine commitment to working with people and who treats others with warmth and respect. You are empathetic, calm, and confident in your professional role, and you are motivated by supporting individuals’ independence and personal growth. Furthermore, you take the initiative and want to actively contribute to developing our group home together with colleagues and residents. With creativity and dedication, you find solutions that make everyday life meaningful and foster a sense of inclusion for every person. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.

Requirements

  • Certified nursing assistant or other education deemed equivalent
  • Good command of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, so that you can communicate with residents, family members, and colleagues, write and review care documentation, and receive medication delegation

Desirable Qualifications

  • Training in psychiatry
  • The Health and Social Care Program, the Child and Leisure Program with a focus on social work or educational work
  • Experience working with people in complex and emotionally charged situations
  • Experience or knowledge of methods such as ESL (An Independent Life), MI (Motivational Interviewing), or Resima
  • Experience handling threatening and violent situations at work
  • Experience working in healthcare

Heavy lifting may occur; lifting aids must be used. Smoking and pets may be present in the workplace, so you should not have any allergies.
