The Disability Services Department in the Municipality of Umeå aims to be a resource that, through proximity and collaboration, empowers and strengthens people’s ability to live independent lives.

Istidsgatan 27 is an assisted living facility under the LSS. Fourteen residents with intellectual and physical disabilities of varying ages live here. All residents live in their own apartments and share common areas.

Your Responsibilities

You will provide guidance, support, and care to residents with intellectual and physical disabilities in their daily lives. You’ll work with a long-term, goal-oriented approach to create a safe home environment and meaningful daily routines and leisure activities for our residents. You’ll offer individual, social, and practical support to enable and nurture each person’s own abilities, thereby creating the conditions for independence.

Common duties include assisting clients with approved services such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, personal hygiene/care, medication, and social activities.

The job also includes record-keeping, documentation in Treserva, and working in a goal-oriented manner with individual implementation plans to increase goal achievement.

The workplace may involve exposure to smoking, heavy lifting, and situations involving threats or violence.

To create a sense of security and stability for our residents and to manage threatening and violent situations, it is important to follow procedures and collaborate within the work team.

Work hours include day, evening, and weekend shifts, as well as on-call duty.  Joint planning takes place between our operations within Disability Care.

About You

As a person, you are calm and confident and find it easy to follow procedures. You have strong collaboration skills and maintain a professional demeanor toward clients, family members, and other stakeholders. You are committed and eager to share our values, work toward set goals, and strive for continuous improvement. As a person, you find it easy to create and maintain structure and contribute to the development of the organization. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

In order to communicate with clients, family members, and colleagues, write and review care documentation, and be authorized to administer medication, you must have a good command of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. 

Requirements:

• Health and Social Care Program, Child and Leisure Program, the Social Work Program, or another program deemed equivalent by the employer
• work experience in health and social care

Preferred Qualifications:

• work experience in disability care
