Disability care in Umeå municipality wants to be a resource that frees

Riksgymnasiet för rörelsehindrade is a national upper secondary school for those who need an adapted education due to their physical disability. Umeå is one of four places in Sweden that has a national upper secondary school for the physically disabled. Students who have a long way to school are granted a place in a student home.

Elevhemmet Jägaren is now looking for a support assistant, the position is a residence position.

Your tasks

In your role as a support assistant, you will meet the students' needs for support and care and contribute to a meaningful leisure time at the student home. You will also assist in planning the students' schooling and daily life. Our approach aims to prepare students for their future adult lives. The work includes the usual household chores. The service also includes collaboration with schools and habilitation within RGRH.

Heavy lifting occurs, transfer aids are used.

Working hours are scheduled day, evening and weekend.

Co-planning occurs between our activities within the Disability Care

About you

We are looking for you who have the ability to work independently and at the same time collaborate within the staff group and with other actors. You are a confident adult and a good role model. You have the ability to connect with students. You see each individual and contribute to creating a safe environment in the student home. You take great personal responsibility and have patience when dealing with students. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

In order for you to be able to communicate with students, colleagues and other networks around our students,

write and take part in social documentation and perform self-care tasks, it is required that you have

good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.

Requirements:

• Nursing and Care Program, Child and Leisure Program, Social Work Program

  or other education that the employer considers equivalent.

• Experience of working in disability care.

Additional:

• Experience of working in a residential school for the disabled.
• Experience of working with children and young people with autism, intellectual disabilities and neuropsychiatric diagnoses.
