Är du den rätta?

The Disability Services Department in the Municipality of Umeå aims to be a resource that, through close collaboration, empowers and strengthens people’s ability to live independently. Here, you get to be part of something meaningful every day; it’s a job where you meet people who give back at least as much as you invest—often even more.

Porfyrvägen is a supported housing facility under the LSS focused on intellectual disabilities. Six people of varying ages and with different care needs live here in their own apartments. We tailor our support to each individual.

We are now looking for three support assistants for our facility!

Your responsibilities

You will guide and support people with intellectual disabilities in their daily lives. You will provide individual, social, and practical support to enable and nurture the individuals’ own abilities, thereby creating the conditions for independence. You will work to help these individuals participate in their daily lives and have meaningful leisure time and/or activities.

The work includes personal care, heavy lifting, and practical tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry. You will also participate in leisure activities such as movie outings, exercise, walks, and more.

Work hours are scheduled for days, evenings, weekends, and on-call nights. Joint planning takes place between our disability care operations.

There are pets (cats) at the workplace, so you should not be allergic.

About You

As a person, you are confident, curious, and committed. You have good teamwork skills and a professional demeanor toward clients, colleagues, and other networks surrounding our clients. It is important that you share our values, work toward set goals, and take responsibility for the shared work environment. It is also important that you are proactive and enjoy working with change, as we are currently undergoing a major development and transformation process within the organization. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.

In order to communicate with clients, family members, and colleagues, write and review care documentation, and receive medication delegation, you must have a good command of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

Requirements:

  • The Healthcare and Social Care Program, the Child and Leisure Program, the Social Work Program, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer
  • Experience working in healthcare and social care, e.g., in LSS housing or elder care

Desirable:

  • Experience working with people with disabilities
  • Experience with Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Independent Living (ESL)
  • Experience with low-affect communication
  • Experience using lifting aids

Other

Selection and interviews are conducted on an ongoing basis.

To ensure that the candidates invited to an interview are those who best meet the requirements and qualifications for the position, we use screening questions. The questions are designed based on these requirements and qualifications. It is therefore important that you answer the questions thoroughly and that the skills you list are supported by information in your resume. Incomplete or inadequate answers may result in your application not proceeding further in the process.

NOTE! Do you have sensitive personal data? Please contact Recruitment Support at 090-16 10 99 or at rekrytering@umea.se, and they will assist you with a secure application process.

Before an offer of employment is made, we ask you to provide an extract from the police criminal records. This is done as the final step in the recruitment process.

We look forward to receiving your application!
