Are you the one?

The Disability Services Department in the Municipality of Umeå aims to be a resource that, through proximity and collaboration, empowers and strengthens people’s ability to live independently.

Timotejvägen is a group home under the LSS for active older adults with intellectual disabilities who need round-the-clock support and care. Each person lives in their own apartment while also having access to our cozy common areas, where community, activity, and joy take center stage.

At Timotejvägen, we do not view age as a barrier. We encourage an active lifestyle where each individual has the opportunity to participate based on their own interests, preferences, and abilities. The days are filled with everything from cooking, baking, and creative activities to working out at the gym, music, games, and socializing.

Through consistent routines, clear communication, and a person-centered approach, we create an environment where each person has the best possible conditions to participate, be independent, and feel secure in their daily life. This structure serves as a stable foundation that makes it easier to seize opportunities, try new activities, and experience meaningful moments together.

In our work, we aim to create a safe and meaningful environment where every person can feel a sense of belonging, joy, and the opportunity to continue living a rich, active, and fulfilling life.

We are now looking for two support assistants!

Your Responsibilities

As a support assistant with us, you will provide individually tailored support to people with mental and/or intellectual disabilities. You’ll help create a sense of security, structure, and the conditions for a meaningful daily life where the individual’s needs, participation, and self-determination are the focus.

The work involves both social and practical support in daily life. You will support clients in their home environment, during social gatherings and leisure activities, and with practical tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and personal care. The role also includes providing support during activities outside the home, such as swimming and exercise, and accompanying clients to daily activities.

You will work with a methodical, long-term, and goal-oriented approach to strengthen each individual’s abilities and independence. Together with the clients, you will plan and carry out activities that contribute to an improved quality of life and greater participation.

The work is physically demanding and involves caregiving tasks that include heavy lifting, transfers, and activities such as swimming several times a week, going to the gym, and taking long walks.

The position also includes administrative tasks such as documentation, creating and following up on implementation plans, planning support measures, and providing structural support. You will also be responsible for medication management through delegation in accordance with applicable procedures and will collaborate as needed with family members and other internal and external stakeholders.

- Work hours are scheduled for day, evening, and weekend shifts

- Joint planning takes place between our operations within Disability Care

Furthermore, you take initiative, are organized and solution-oriented, and are driven to work toward continuous improvement. We also seek commitment and openness to development efforts both in your own workplace and across the entire organization. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.

In order for you to communicate with clients and colleagues, write and review care documentation, and be authorized to administer medication, you must have fluent proficiency in the Swedish language, both spoken and written.
