Disability care in Umeå municipality wants to be a resource that frees and strengthens people's ability to live an independent life in proximity and interaction.
Grubbevägen is a group home under LSS for people with intellectual disabilities.
The home has six apartments connected to common areas, which include an office and a day room. The individual support is mainly based on the individual's apartment. Our activities are characterized by an environment where you are met with respect and professionalism where everyone is given the opportunity to develop based on their individual conditions.
We now need to expand our team with a support educator!
Your tasks
Together with your colleagues, you support people with disabilities. You work to make the individual part of a functioning everyday life and to have a functioning leisure time.
As a support educator, you work with evidence-based educational methods to create security and structure in everyday life for people with disabilities. You guide staff in the user-related work and actively contribute to quality development, documentation and introduction of new colleagues. You are also part of a network of support educators where you have the opportunity to exchange experiences and continuous skills development.
You work on behalf of your manager and the assignments can vary over time depending on the needs of the business/activities.
Nursing work is part of the job and may include, for example, personal hygiene, support at meals, cleaning and laundry, planning activities, accompanying medical appointments, medication administration and documentation.
- There is extroverted behavior at the facility. Heavy lifting also occurs and mobility aids must be used.
- The working hours are day, evening, weekend and daytime. In disability care, we work with co-planning with other activities.
About you
We are looking for you who want to make a difference for the target group and who have good teaching skills. You have great commitment and a desire to be involved in developing the business. You are responsive, flexible, solution-focused and have a good attitude and are good at communicating and interacting with all roles that you meet in your everyday life. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
To be able to communicate with users, colleagues and other networks, write and access
care documentation and obtain medication authorization, you must have a good knowledge of the
Swedish language in both speech and writing
Requirements
Post-secondary education in the form of at least 200 YH credits, support educator or other equivalent higher vocational education. Alternatively, 60 credits in relevant courses towards disability care. Programs and/or courses with a clear focus on work with intellectual, cognitive or mental disabilities. For example, in:
- Ethical approaches
- Pedagogical theories and methods
- Alternative and augmentative communication (AAC)
- Cognitive support
- Coaching approach
A few years of experience working with people with disabilities or other work experience that we consider equivalent
B driving license
Advantageous
Experience of low-effective behavior (LAB), alternative and augmentative communication,
(AAC) and motivational interviewing (MI)
