About us

Disability care in Umeå municipality wants to be a resource that frees and strengthens people's ability to live an independent life in proximity and interaction. Ordinary housing is organized in the disability care, here are daily activities, housing support but also children and young adults activities within LSS.

In daily activities, we work to create employment for people who have an intellectual, mental or neuropsychiatric disability. We have 24 internal activities, a number of company groups and about 80 external placements at various companies. Daily activities are granted according to LSS, the law on support and service to certain people with disabilities.

Your duties

As a unit manager with us, you are responsible for operations, users, staff and finances. The tasks include:

  • responsibility for achieving goals and implementing decided activities
  • responsibility for conducting systematic work in terms of operational goals, work environment, quality, finances, etc.
  • budget/financial work
  • personnel planning, staffing and recruitment
  • giving employees guidance and feedback in their daily work
  • communicating values and encouraging dialogue and cooperation

Part of the assignment involves collaboration internally but also externally, for example with authorities, civil society, companies and welfare actors.

You report to an assistant director and you are part of a group of 17 managerial colleagues. Your workplace is centrally located in Umeå on Rådhusesplanaden, but a present leadership requires that you visit and are in your activities regularly.

About you

We are looking for you who have:

  • high school education with a social science, behavioral science or educational focus or other equivalent education that the employer considers relevant.
  • experience of working with the target group in the field of disability
  • experience as a manager
  • experience of collaboration

It is meritorious if you have:

  • experience in leading activities in the field of employment
  • experience of Supported Employment (SE) and / or Supported Training (ST)

Other

The position starts with you deputizing for one of our unit managers for 10 months. After that, you will be responsible for your regular activities.
