The Individual and Family Care (IFO) in Umeå municipality works to be a resource that frees and strengthens people's ability to live an independent life in proximity and interaction.
We are now looking for a confident, committed and development-oriented head of unit for our operations in Family Treatment - an important role where you, together with a managerial colleague, lead a team that makes a real difference for children, young people and their families.
About the service
Family Treatment offers support and interventions to children and young people aged 0-18 years (sometimes up to 21 years) and their families. We work to implement various types of decisions granted assistance, such as family treatment, parental support and other interventions aimed at children and young people, individually and in groups. The work is conducted with selected methods, including:
KIBB - Cognitive Integrated Treatment at Risk of Child Abuse
PYC - Parenting Young Children
IHF - Intensive Home Based Family Treatment
FFT - Functional Family Therapy

Family treatment consists of about 40 employees and is led by two unit managers in close cooperation.
Your task
As head of unit, you will manage around 20 employees and be responsible for staff, work environment, finances, quality, follow-up and development. Together with your managerial colleague, you are responsible for ensuring that the goals of the organization are achieved, that granted needs that match the organization's efforts are implemented and that efforts to the organization's other target groups are carried out.
You work in a shared leadership together with your manager colleague and are part of a management team with eight unit managers and a coordinator, led by an assistant manager.
The focus right now is to participate in the transition to the new Social Services Act, which came into force in 2025, in collaboration with other provider activities within IFO and activities that exercise authority. Together, you have a common mission to develop the business with a focus on early interventions and continue to develop the business towards a knowledge-based social service, where interventions are offered based on the best available knowledge.
Who are you?
We are looking for you who have:
A degree in social work or other relevant higher education
Experience from social service provider activities/open care and/or exercise of authority
Led/coordinated colleagues in processes/change work.
We would like you to have:
Management experience
Experience in internal and external collaboration.
You are a present and courageous leader with employee and user focus who sees both the individual and the whole. You have a solution-focused approach, are confident in yourself and have the ability to handle complex situations with integrity. The role requires good teamwork and collaboration with many different agencies internally and externally. You are unpretentious and have a strong commitment to developing both the business and the staff. To succeed in the role, you need to be able to prioritize and plan even when the pace is fast.
