Måltidsservice in Umeå municipality has an important task: to provide the municipality's preschools, schools and elderly care with good and nutritious meals. Your duties

As a unit manager, you are responsible for the finances, quality and development of the business. You lead a maximum of 30 employees distributed in different kitchens in area North 1, which includes Sävar, Bullmark, Tavelsjö, and Botsmark. Working with personnel planning and staffing is one of the daily tasks for you and as a leader you take great responsibility for creating a health-promoting work environment. The work includes working with food safety and developing the production of sustainable and climate-smart meals.

You are part of the Meal Service group for management and support consisting of management group, 13 unit managers and support functions. You report to the area manager.

The position is a temporary position for the period 1 October 2026 until 30 September 2027, with the possibility of extension.

About you

We want to work in a trusting organization and are looking for you who want to contribute to this. You are a responsive, good leader who encourages your employees to curiosity, responsibility and collaboration and you make both the individual employee and the team visible. You have the ability to enthusiastically motivate your employees while being both clear and goal-oriented.

We want you to have experience from the food/meal/restaurant industry. We would like you to have several years of experience in managing employees, preferably in the service area in the public sector. We want you to have a relevant university education or several years of experience in leadership/management that includes personnel, financial and work environment responsibilities. Perhaps you have completed Umeå municipality's internal trainee program for future leaders.

As a person, you are structured and independent. You enjoy collaborating and naturally make contacts both inside and outside the organization. You have a passion for food and a clear idea about food quality, environment and health. You need to have good IT skills. A B driving license is a requirement for this position.
