About Us

The Disability Services Department in Umeå Municipality aims to be a resource that, through proximity and collaboration, empowers and strengthens people’s ability to live independent lives. Independent living is organized within disability services, and the area offers programs tailored to both children and adults under both the LSS and SOL.

Housing support is a service provided under the Social Services Act, with the mission of offering individually tailored support in daily life to enhance independence, participation, and quality of life. We provide social, practical, and educational support to adults aged 18 and older with mental, neuropsychiatric, or intellectual disabilities, as well as individuals with substance abuse and addiction issues.

As unit manager, you will lead and develop the program with a focus on quality, collaboration, and a professional approach. You create favorable conditions for employees and contribute to a safe, structured, and development-oriented organization—always with the individual at the center

Your Responsibilities

As a unit manager with us, you are responsible for operations, clients, staff, and finances. Your responsibilities include, among other things:

• You are responsible for ensuring that the unit’s goals are met and that planned activities are carried out to a high standard.
• You lead structured and systematic efforts in operational development, workplace environment, quality, and finances.
• You have overall responsibility for the budget and financial monitoring.
• You ensure sustainable workforce planning, staffing, and recruitment based on the unit’s needs.
• You lead and develop employees through hands-on leadership, mentoring, and continuous feedback.
• You clarify and reinforce the organization’s values and foster engagement, participation, and collaboration within the work team.
• You will build and maintain strong partnerships, both internally and externally, to create the best possible conditions for people in need of support.

You will report to an assistant director and be part of a group of 18 fellow managers. Your workplace is centrally located in Umeå on Rådhusesplanaden, but hands-on leadership requires that you visit and be present at your operations on a regular basis.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

• a college degree in social sciences, behavioral sciences, or education, or other equivalent education that the employer deems relevant.
• experience working with individuals in need of support due to mental health issues, substance abuse and addiction, neuropsychiatric conditions, or intellectual disabilities; experience as a manager

Experience in the field of housing support is a plus.
