The Public Authority Division within Support and Care has approximately 240 employees with diverse areas of expertise who are responsible for investigating and monitoring interventions for adults, children, and youth.

About Us

The Social Assistance Unit works with families and individuals who apply for financial assistance to help meet their basic needs. We develop our operations in collaboration with others, both internally and externally, to provide the best possible support to individuals so they can achieve self-sufficiency and independence. We provide information about rights and obligations and assess eligibility for financial assistance.

Your Responsibilities

There are two unit managers in the Social Assistance Unit, each responsible for their own workgroup. You will therefore work closely with your colleague in the Income Support Unit, as well as with other managerial colleagues in the public administration, with the task of coordinating efforts around the individual based on a holistic approach. As a unit manager, you have employer responsibility for operations, finances, and personnel. You have overall responsibility for ensuring that work is carried out in accordance with the laws, regulations, and guidelines that govern the operations. Together with your employees, safety representatives, and fellow managers, you will work continuously on workplace safety issues and to foster a positive work environment within the unit. The role also involves driving, planning, evaluating, analyzing, and developing the operational area to meet the needs of the target group and address future challenges. You will have access to support functions in areas such as finance, quality, and occupational health and safety. You will be part of various steering committees and working groups related to your assignment and will play a key role in fostering effective collaboration with other units and organizations both within and outside the municipality.

You will be part of the deputy director’s management team.

About You

We are looking for someone who…

• holds a degree in social work or has equivalent training
• has several years of experience in public administration within social services
• has prior experience working as a manager.

You are interested in both leadership and social work and prioritize the well-being of citizens. You have experience in change management. To succeed in this role, you are a hands-on manager and a natural role model. You are responsive, organized, and have the ability to harness your employees’ motivation, resources, and desire for growth. You build strong relationships and trust by being clear and respectful in your interactions, fostering mutual trust with your employees. You place particular importance on fostering a positive collaborative environment both internally and externally, and you express yourself well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing. Great importance is placed on your personal qualities.
