...then you should apply for the position of Unit Manager with us!
About Us
The Disability Services Department in the Municipality of Umeå aims to be a resource that, through proximity and collaboration, empowers and strengthens people’s ability to live independent lives. Ordinary housing is organized within disability care, and the area offers services targeted at both children and adults under both the LSS and SOL acts.
Today, there are six short-term residential facilities in the municipality with different focuses for children and young adults. We offer a safe stay with opportunities for social interaction in a home-like environment. The short-term stay provides an opportunity to form new relationships and perhaps try new things. Great importance is placed on creating a meaningful stay and positive experiences through various activities, either individually or in groups. We also work to ensure that the children are involved and independent, based on their age and individual circumstances.
Your Responsibilities
As a unit manager with us, you are responsible for operations, residents, staff, and finances. Your responsibilities include, among other things:
You will report to an assistant director and be part of a group of 18 fellow managers. Your workplace is centrally located in Umeå on Rådhusesplanaden, but hands-on leadership requires that you visit and be present at your operations on a regular basis.
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
Experience working with children and young adults with challenging behaviors is a plus.
We are looking for someone who is a confident and clear leader with good self-awareness and the ability to build trust. You have a positive and solution-focused approach, as well as a genuine commitment to the target group. You recognize and believe in each individual’s potential to live an independent and meaningful life based on their own circumstances.
You thrive in a team-based leadership environment and are skilled at both contributing to and benefiting from the expertise within a management team. You view collaboration as essential for achieving results and fostering development, and you actively work to build trust, consensus, and shared responsibility.
In a constantly changing work environment, you are flexible, unpretentious, and capable of making well-informed decisions, even when the pace is fast. At the same time, you work in a structured, goal-oriented, and long-term manner with a focus on continuous improvement.
In your leadership, you foster a sense of psychological safety and a culture where it’s natural to share ideas, try new things, and learn from experience. At our company, it goes without saying that everyone contributes, grows, and takes responsibility—together.
We place great importance on your personal qualities.
