Are you interested in working with a hands-on leadership style and fostering positive relationships between employees and home care recipients?

We focus on high quality, ensuring that our employees provide the best possible support to our home care recipients. We believe that hands-on leadership and a sustainable work environment are key to attracting and retaining employees.

The vision of Elderly Care is “Together for a better life—for life.” The goal is for older adults to be able to continue living in their own homes for as long as possible.

Umeå Municipality’s home care service is Umeå’s largest provider with the most extensive experience in personal care and services. The municipality’s home care service provides various forms of support, service, and care in the home. We are the unit that manages all care services for our home care recipients living in their own homes within Umeå Municipality.

Job Responsibilities

We are now looking for a unit manager who wants to join our wonderful team and be responsible for the Teg home care service together with a colleague in a shared leadership role. You will be part of a management team consisting of 18 other unit managers, a development manager, an assistant operations manager, and an operations manager.

The role of unit manager includes responsibility for operations, home care recipients, staff, and finances. Your primary mission is to ensure that we provide high-quality services where our employees offer the best possible support to our home care recipients.

The duties of a unit manager include, among other things, working with:

  • staffing planning and talent acquisition
  • providing employees with guidance and feedback to help improve care services
  • communicating values, encouraging dialogue and collaboration
  • systematic workplace safety and health efforts
  • rehabilitation and adaptation
  • implementing new work methods, such as the introduction of new digital technology

Of course, there are times when the role of unit manager is challenging, and to support you in your work, you’ll have your fellow unit managers, with whom you can engage in dialogue and collaborate on shared issues. There are also support functions within administration, finance, and HR.

Who are you?

Working with us means you can make a difference and help others lead a well-functioning and meaningful daily life. We’re looking for someone who can inspire and motivate colleagues in their daily work. By allocating resources where they’re needed most, you’ll ensure that we can make a difference for the people we serve. With us, no two days are alike, and you’ll need to be solution-oriented and able to quickly reprioritize based on new circumstances. You’re confident and courageous, with a strong ability to lead and communicate during times of change.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • a college degree, perhaps in social work, or another degree that provides knowledge of relevant legislation, behavioral science, and leadership
  • previous experience as a manager

It is a plus if you have:

  • experience as a manager in elder care, preferably in home care
  • management or leadership training, or completion of an internal trainee program for future leaders

We offer you

  • close collaboration and support from colleagues, managers, and HR
  • a management and leadership development program
  • ongoing professional development
  • flexible working hours
  • subsidized wellness activities
