The Umeå Region Fire Brigade is growing and we are now looking for a coordinator who wants to be responsible for our vehicle fleet and associated equipment. About us The Umeå Region Fire Department includes Umeå, Vindeln and Robertsfors municipalities. We work with preventive fire protection and rescue services for about 140,000 people in one of Sweden's most expansive regions. We are currently in an exciting development phase where we are going from one to two full-time stations in Umeå and expanding our workforce significantly in the coming years. The new fire station in Tomtebostrand is expected to be completed in 2028. Your tasks As a coordinator for the design of vehicles and equipment, you have overall responsibility for ensuring that our vehicles and equipment are fit for purpose, safe and modern. Collaboration and communication are key components as you work closely with both colleagues within the organization and external suppliers. The role includes, among other things: Leading and coordinating the development of specifications for emergency service vehicles and equipment. Responsibility for procurement and ongoing contacts with suppliers. Ensuring that the equipment meets the needs of the business and applicable safety requirements. Ongoing coordination in terms of maintenance and development of our vehicle fleet with a focus on operational functionality. Operational function opportunity: Depending on your qualifications, suitability and previous experience, there may be an opportunity to work part of your time in one of our operational functions. In that case, this will be a combined position where you will be part of the system/response management or work as a firefighter during certain periods. The rest of the time you will work on your coordination tasks during office hours, with good opportunities for teleworking when operations allow. About you We are looking for you who have a genuine interest in vehicles and technology combined with experience in procurement. As the role involves many interfaces, you will need to be a good communicator and have excellent interpersonal skills. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. Qualifications: Proven experience in working with public procurement under LOU. Good knowledge of vehicles, technology and relevant equipment. Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. B driving license. Meritorious: Previous experience from working in the emergency services. Previous experience working with either heavy vehicles, special vehicles or bodywork. Completed rescue service training such as SMO, GRIB, LK1 via MCF or equivalent older training (e.g. Rescue Operation or Rescue Leader A) or higher, we see as positive.
