Company description

Vattenfall Vattenkraft is responsible for Vattenfall's 90 hydropower plants and about 300 dams in the Nordic region. We are about 500 employees in Sweden and Finland with headquarters in Luleå. Hydropower's renewable electricity production is a prerequisite for creating a climate-smart and fossil-free society where we play an important role as an enabler for the sustainable energy system of the future. Our production corresponds to about 25% of Sweden's total electricity needs. To deliver high availability in our production, we need to constantly challenge ourselves, develop our working methods and take advantage of digital opportunities.

About the role

Do you want to have fun at work and at the same time work for a fossil-free society?

Now you have the opportunity to do so with us at Vattenfall Vattenkraft. We are working together for a fossil-free society. To achieve our goal, we need committed employees who want to contribute to a better climate on our planet. You will be an important part of that work!

Now we are strengthening our team and looking for another shift control room engineer for our production center in Bispgården!

With us, you will work in the center of events. From this production center we are responsible for remote control and monitoring of Vattenfall's hydropower plants in Ångermanälven, Indalsälven, Gimån, Dalälven and Göta älv, our small-scale power stations and fish farms.

Working in a production center means that you are constantly involved with different parties, both internally and externally. We are a service function and the hub between demand and supply of fossil-free electricity production from hydropower.

As a control room engineer, you are responsible for water management regulations and act as an operations manager for electricity and waterway works within specified switching limits. More examples of tasks are writing operating orders, processing incoming work requests and producing production statistics for our hydropower plants. The work involves a lot of communication via various support systems, telephone and email.

We are a dedicated and shift-working team that staffs the production center around the clock. We work both in teams and on our own. Working alone requires that you are confident in your role and that you work carefully based on given routines and instructions.

Requirement specification

We are looking for you who are confident, structured and communicative. You will work with a number of different systems and handle a lot of information, so it is important that you have good IT and telephone skills and that you can maintain stability and order around your work, even in more pressured situations.

Basically, you have an electrical power engineering education, preferably at university level, or equivalent work experience that the employer considers equivalent.

We would like you to have experience of production / operational technical work and hydropower. Experience of working as an operator or engineer in an operations center or control room is a plus. You speak and write good Swedish and English.
