Company description

Business Unit (BU) Vattenfall Power Solutions is a business unit of approximately 650 people within Business Area (BA) Vattenfall Generation that trains personnel in Swedish nuclear power, delivers nuclear fuel to Vattenfall's nuclear power plants, develops and implements projects and assignments, and provides internal technical specialist services for all of Vattenfall's operations, Group staffs and stakeholders. This includes activities such as development and provision of training, project management and project support, analysis management and investigation, product development, nuclear safety assignments and dam safety assignments. The focus of the Vattenfall Power Solutions business unit is to develop our capabilities in project management and selected key technical disciplines. We work actively with continuous improvement initiatives and development of our models, where our work and competence create great value for Vattenfall and its investments.

About the role

Preparations are now underway for a historic step for Sweden's energy infrastructure! Are you tomorrow's nuclear hero?

Vattenfall has a clear strategy for a fossil-free society and is a leader in the green transition. We are proud to play an important role in meeting the growing demand for fossil-free electricity generation. To be able to do that, we see that all fossil-free power sources will be needed, which is why we have now established a program to create the conditions for establishing new nuclear power.

As part of creating the conditions for new nuclear power, opportunities are being investigated on the Värö Peninsula in Halland, with the goal of having a plant in operation no earlier than the first half of the 2030s.

About the position

Vattenfall is now looking for 35 new employees to work in EPC - Engineering Procurement Construction in the program for new nuclear power. We are looking for project management, technical leaders and purchasing managers of the future.

We are mainly looking for employees to work with:

  • Project managers, project planners and project controllers.
  • Nuclear licensing, requirements management and documentation (licensing and plant design)
  • Radiological safety - analysis and calculations
  • Design - electrical and automation, mechanical, construction and materials
  • Procurement of materials and services

You will be part of a larger team with different tasks for preparing for new nuclear power.

With us you get:

  • Work with dedicated colleagues in projects that develop both technology and people.
  • The opportunity to influence, improve and drive - whether you are a new graduate or experienced.
  • A daily life where change is a constant element - and where you are involved in steering the direction.

In addition to new nuclear power, we work with existing nuclear power at Ringhals and Forsmark both in operation, development and decommissioning as well as Vattenfall's hydropower where you can also get the opportunity to work.

We know that our employees are the key to our success. We value your development and will always encourage you to use your skills and provide you with opportunities to grow through new challenges, training and skills transfer. With us, you will be trusted to act with great freedom and responsibility, which together with good working conditions and mutual trust provides a high level of flexibility and work-life balance.

Requirement specification

We believe that you have an academic background, for example as an engineer, economist or other equivalent education. The work requires very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written. If you have experience of nuclear operations and/or large projects as well as working in an international environment, it is meritorious.

We believe that you:

  • Have a natural ability to adapt to new situations and like to rethink when the plan changes.
  • Are persistent and do not give up at the first obstacle - you find ways forward.
  • Have patience - you know that good results take time and that cooperation is based on understanding.
  • Work in a structured way and contribute with order even when the world is messy.
  • Communicate clearly and are happy to share your working methods and insights.

Whether you have technical excellence, strength in project management or purchasing, we believe you have a personality that combines structure with curiosity. In your role, you will work in a dynamic and changing environment where conditions can change quickly. You thrive on having several balls in the air at the same time, but also know how to create structure and prioritize when the pace increases. You can make decisions based on limited information and exercise judgment under time pressure.

We are looking for candidates who are flexible, patient and persistent, and who know that the best results often require both focus and adaptability. With us, you will be an important cog in complex projects where conditions can change quickly - and where your ability to create order in the mess makes a difference.

We are convinced that diversity helps build a more profitable and appealing company and strive to be good role models when it comes to diversity. Vattenfall works actively to ensure that all employees have the same opportunities and rights regardless of age, ethnic or cultural background, gender, religion/belief, sexual orientation or disability.
