Business Unit (BU) Vattenfall Power Solutions is a business unit of approximately 650 people within Business Area (BA) Vattenfall Generation that trains personnel in Swedish nuclear power, delivers nuclear fuel to Vattenfall's nuclear power plants, develops and implements projects and assignments and provides internal technical specialist services for all of Vattenfall's operations, Group staffs and stakeholders. This includes activities such as development and provision of training, project management and project support, analysis management and investigation, product development, nuclear safety and dam safety assignments. The focus of the Vattenfall Power Solutions business unit is to develop our capabilities in project management and selected key technical disciplines. We work actively with continuous improvement initiatives and development of our models, where our work and competence creates great value for Vattenfall and its investments.

The Waste and Environment unit, within Vattenfall Power Solutions, is now looking for a committed and solution-oriented environmental specialist who wants to join and strengthen our environmental team.

Many of our projects are ground-breaking, raising new issues around lifetime extension, environmental permitting and sustainability. We also work on assignments in electricity distribution, wind power, hydroelectric power and heat, as well as the development of environmental product declarations (EPDs).

Your tasks and responsibilities

As an Environmental Specialist with us, you will belong to a department with specialists in different technical areas. We work in teams and across areas of expertise to find innovative and effective solutions for our clients. You will interact with colleagues in the environmental functional area who are spread out on both the west and east coasts, giving you the opportunity for a wide network and knowledge exchange.

Your main duties include:

  • Environmental project support: Participate in project meetings and provide environmental support to nuclear, hydro and other energy projects
  • Permitting processes: Work on licensing processes, environmental plans and contribute to consultation documents
  • Environmental monitoring and follow-up: Carry out environmental rounds, follow up on environmental monitoring programs and ensure that environmental requirements are met in the different phases of the projects
  • Procurement support: Contribute to procurement by developing environmental and sustainability requirements
  • Documentation and reporting: Document and report environmental performance and ensure quality assured environmental deliverables
  • Collaboration and knowledge sharing:Collaborate with other environmental specialists, project managers and external stakeholders and contribute to increasing environmental competence within the organization

Requirements

Education (requirements):

  • University or Master's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, sustainable development or similar

Experience (requirements):

  • Experience working in a project environment, preferably in the energy, infrastructure or industrial sector
  • Knowledge of permitting processes, environmental plans and sustainability requirements in procurement
  • Understanding of how environmental work affects project progress, costs and business benefits
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • B-driving license
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both in speech and writing

Additional experience:

  • Experience from process industries, the petrochemical sector or with a focus on environmental issues
  • Work with or within authorities such as county councils or other organizations with environmental responsibilities
  • Experience with ISO 14001, environmental control programs or CO₂ emission calculations
  • Courses in environmental legislation, environmental management, permit processes or sustainability management
