About the role

Vattenfall Vattenkraft is responsible for Vattenfall's 90 hydropower plants and about 300 dams in the Nordic region. We are about 500 employees in Sweden and Finland with headquarters in Luleå. Hydropower's renewable electricity production is a prerequisite for creating a climate-smart and fossil-free society where we play an important role as an enabler for the sustainable energy system of the future. Our production corresponds to about 25% of Sweden's total electricity needs. To deliver high availability in our production, we need to constantly challenge ourselves, develop our working methods and take advantage of digital opportunities.

Do you want to have fun at work and at the same time work for a fossil-free society?

Now you have the opportunity to do so with us at Vattenfall Vattenkraft. Together we work for a fossil-free society. To achieve our goal, we need committed employees who want to contribute to a better climate on our planet. You will be an important part of that work!

We are now looking for a fisheries technician for Vattenfall's fish farm in Forsmo, 15 km northwest of Sollefteå. Vattenfall is one of Sweden's largest fish farmers. Every year, around 1.5 million salmon and sea trout are released into the rivers. Environmental issues are in focus for the business and Vattenfall works continuously with measures to reduce emissions or other environmental impact.

Vattenfall's work is about growing and releasing salmon, sea trout, whitefish, grayling and eel. But also about the maintenance of fish ladders, measures for fish migration and fish tagging. We have six fish farms in Sweden. The reason why Vattenfall farms fish is that power companies are required to compensate for fishing and fish stocks damaged in connection with power plant expansion.

About the work as a fisheries technician

At the fish farm in Forsmo, we work with compensatory farming of salmon, sea trout and whitefish for release mainly in the Ångermanälven river according to water rights.

The work is conducted based on the needs of the fish and we strive for the best possible fish welfare and animal care. As a fisheries technician, you have a central role in the daily care of fish and plant, where the work takes place both indoors and outdoors. We move a lot on foot within the facility and between buildings.

Examples of responsibilities/tasks:

  • Daily care of fish
  • Operation and maintenance of the facility
  • Breeding fish and breeding work
  • Developing working methods and technology in the fish farming area
  • Full-time work and standby duty will be included. Work at Vattenfall's other fish farms or facilities may be relevant for shorter periods.

We use several IT / data systems that you will also work with, they are, for example, systems for feeding, record keeping, alarm management and fish counting. There are administrative elements such as report writing and updating instructions.

We have both a technical and biological focus and high demands on responsibility, cooperation and commitment. The work is flexible and free in nature, but also more monotonous assignments such as fish tagging will be included.

Requirement specification

You have an upper secondary or post-secondary education with a focus on biology, technology and / or electricity. Experience of animal care is an advantage. We would like you to have experience of similar practical and responsible work where accuracy is crucial to the result.

We are looking for you who are versatile, have an eye for detail and who grab what needs to be done. You are safety conscious and used to solving different types of problems that can arise in a technically complex facility that must operate safely and securely around the clock, all year round. You work in a solution- and result-oriented way and are happy to share experiences with your colleagues. The work group in Forsmo is small and we need to complement each other.

The work requires IT experience, experience of Word and Excel and good knowledge of Swedish and English. You have a B driving license, additional driving license qualifications may be meritorious.
